    Default Datamex Prulife

I've received a call recently. And just as a precaution, I checked on the net if this is really legitimate.

An agent at Prulife called me and told me that I had won a free scholarship to a school which I never heard of before. I was told to claim my Datamex Scholarship immediately at their office in Keppel. I was told that I will get a free accidental insurance coverage for one year. After that, I will have to pay something like fifty pesos to maintain my insurance. The rep asked if I had a credit card or any form of bank identification. The rep also said that I should go to Prulife right away so I can avail of the special raffle at SM which will be held at the end of the month. If I join the raffle I will have a chance at winning P10,000 or P50,000.

I don't think that this is necessarily a scam but more like a sales pitch. I've done my research on the net and the Datamex scholarship seems to be legitimate. However, you will be asked to pay for the miscellaneous fees. And there really is a Prulife Insurance accidental policy good for one year however, before you can avail of the freebies, you are going to be sold many insurance policies.

I don't know who should be regulating this. Perhaps DTI can look into this. It's really unfair. Since the Prulife agents probably need to get their quota, they come up with means and ways to lure potential policy holders so that people will be forced to sign up with them.

Under no circumstances should people give out their credit card information to anyone. I've read on other posts that these people can charge your card successively.

I am an insurance policy holder of another company. And the sales reps there are pretty clear about what they're trying to sell you. They don't resort to gimmicks or don't dangle freebies. Having an insurance coverage is very important but it has to fit the person's individual needs.

If you get a call from one of these sales reps which I'm sure you eventually will, just tell them you're not interested. If you really want insurance coverage, go to established insurance companies. Getting an insurance coverage is serious stuff. And gimmicks should not be used at all!

my god! i also had this information... a guy called our house saying we were granted with any 4-yr college scolarship! saying they come from a cocoplan something and was looking for my mom.. i just went to listen to hm explain about what we were granted with.. then, i asked his number then called my mom in her office and gave her the number..

then she called the guy and the guy explained things to her..

saying that she should come down to where the guy was so that my mom could claim the certificate right on that day! thank god my mom is not really into those kinds of things. that's why she ignored the guy and said that she was not interested in the scholarship..

** liman ba naman sad ka'g hatagan ka ana?? saying you can have any course? and it's transferable?? tsktsk..
