i find myself listening to their 2nd album quite often lately. inig abot nako from work, patukar dayon nako ilang CD. memorize na nako ang ubang lyrics, hehe.
here's my little review of under the iron sea.
atlantic - sets you in the mood for the album's darker feel.
is it any wonder? - edgy song, the music makes you think they used a guitar this time but there's actually no guitar in it. sounds like a U2 song.
nothing in my way - one of my top favorites, catchy chorus.
leaving so soon? - i love this too. nice build up before the chorus. "a slap in the face, in the face for you now, just might do now..." i love that line.
a bad dream - catchy chorus as well. sounds like a song from the hopes and fears era.
hamburg song - sad slow song, makes me depressed.
put it behind you - wakes you up, very upbeat and fun. one of my favorites.
under the iron sea - lovely instrumental! sounds kinda gothic.
crystal ball - it has a fairy-tale kind of feel to it, just the way i like it when it comes to keane.
try again - this song is a grower for me. haven't really appreciated it until recently.
broken toy - just an OK song for me, my least fave.
the frog prince - my most favorite! perfect closing song. has this fairy tale feel as well.
Bedshaped ako favorite.
what does the word bedshaped mean? i haven't heard of that before.Originally Posted by celtic_predator
Geez, even I don't know what that means. Anyway, I like the tune, kinda wierd in a sense but melodic nevertheless.Originally Posted by north_star

Information about song's meaning:
Rice-Oxley posted an explanation of the song on the official messageboard:
[The song] is about feeling that you've been "left behind" by an old friend or lover. And about hoping that you'll be reunited one day so that you can live out the end of your lives together the way you started them (...) a hope that they'll eventually want to get away from the bright lights and come back home. it's a sad and angry song, but also full of hope.
I think i'm right in saying that in hospital when someone is ill and has to spend a lot of time in bed they can become 'bedshaped'. It sounds a bit depressing (...)but in the context of the song I wanted to suggest old age and frailty(...)
