Top US travel mag ranks Cebu one of Asia’s best

MANILA, Philippines—Cebu has been ranked the third best island in Asia by New York based travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

The Philippine island follows Bali, which ranked first, and Maldives, second.

Cebu got a rating of 87.5 points, eight points up from last year’s 79.68 point.

Cebu’s inclusion in the list was significant and rewarding because the provincial Government has been promoting the component towns and cities and Cebu was recognized as an island-province in the magazine.

Travel + Business magazine recently released the results of the survey, which covers hotels, airlines, cruises, islands and cities all over the world.

Phineas Alburo, Department of Tourism undersecretary, said the good news proves Cebu has a lot to be proud of.

He noted the magazine is a prestigious American publication in which respondents were asked to rate the islands based on their natural attractions, activities and sights, restaurant and food, people and value.

im from Mindanao but my bet between Cebu and Davao, a big OF COURSE Cebu.

I took my first course in Gensan [NDDC] and been roaming in Davao during my free time, so basically I've been there. and it's in your post actually you always states "Davao and Mindanao", I think it should be "Davao and other areas in Mindanao".

When it comes to economy, any bad publicity will be a weakness of a city or a country.
it you look at it on a different way that "it's their perception" then theres no problem with that, but when it comes to investors points of view its basically a weakness. if you're going to compare the number of investors, [no offense] but Davao is way behind Cebu check our revenue as proof.

I always admired Duterte when it comes to peace and order, and I think its a good tandem if their going to run as Pres. and VPres, Osmeña is obviously as the president since he has more knowledge when it comes to our economy[Phil] and most of all international connections.

OT:
if you really feel that Davao has a good economy/opportunities to offer to their locals, then tell it to those Davaoeños who are working here in Cebu. I don't want to debate when it comes to revenue because it's an OT already.

so, kung aha dapit ang nindot suroyan, it will always depend on a person, and in my humble opinion I would say Cebu. [aside from it offers lots of opportunities compared to Davao].

I'm not debating on the economy. I know daghag taga davao diha. I just hope they're well behaved there. wala unta nila nalimtan ang poster diri na sabi "ang dabawenyo ay DCplinado. Ng apply baya kog convergys cebu katong ng job fair cla diri bago lang. but when i asked the interviewer whether the rumors were true that convergys will soon branch out here sa Davao and she said "that was the original plan but the client decided not to push it through because it's you know", naluya kog pinaabtik. Wafa lang jud to cya kaya murag i kept my cool or she kept me cool, i can't remember which..hahaha.

Got alot of Davaoeño's friends working here, they almost covered the entire one department in the company and we share alot of stories and I even toured them here in the city, I am proud as a Cebuano and at the same time Proud to be a Mindanaoaon, same also with them they are proud to be a Davaoeña.

I love to visit Davao again particularly the Pearl Farm Resort.

as much as i would say, dili man bati ang davao city... nindot pod ang davao city. been there too many times na... but overall, i still prefer CDO city basta mindanao... mas lingaw ko sa CDO city...

and ahem, mindanao have no weakness?? u sure about that?? how about the killings of mediamen, politicians, and its people in maguindanao last year?? weakness sa mindanao yan.... how bout the bombings in davao airport (forgot the year)?? weakness napod na (davao city na hap)... how about kidnappings by abu sayyaf?? weakness napod na... how about kidnapping of teachers, and graduating students in agusan del sur just recently this year during graduation?? another weakness napod ni sa mindanao...

even cebu has a weakness pod... i must admit that... with all the biases i have, i prefer cebu... taga cebu gud ko...

yes naka read ko sa mga previous posts, same raman gibuhat sa mga taga Davao sa Cebu na daghan daw snatchers sa Cebu, hugaw kaau, etc etc etc... so patas lang sila, diba? for almost 4 years nko stay dri wa pa man sab ko sukad na snatchan or na hold up, and i guess bisag asa na lugar naay snatcher or mga bad elements - mapa Cebu, Manila, Davao, or CDO man.

yes i am from CDO City. been to Davao, been to Cebu, been to other cities (Tacloban City, Dumaguete, Butuan City, Manila, etc etc) pero i decided na magdugay dri sa Cebu kay ganahan ko, it is like in between Manila and Davao or CDO. gusto gani nko dri mag buy ug haws but my family is in CDO so didto nalang ko nakapalit.
