Need advice for Upgrade(minor lang)

Good day fellow istoryans!!!

Here is my current pc specs

Emaxx MCP61p-avl v3.0
Inno3d GT 240 512mb ddr5
Seagate 320 Gb Hdd
4gb kingston 800 ram
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ 2.6Ghz
Silverstone ST50F-230 essential 500w

I've got around 5k to spend, i was thinking of upgrading my processor to a Athlon II X4 635(or please suggest any procie)? And also i have got the update for the bios to enable support for socket am3, and if i have done the flashing correctly(not sure), i can buy the said am3 processor...

This system is primarily my gaming rig(low to mid setting). I'm playing ME 2, The Witcher EE and DA 2 right now and preparing for The Witcher 2:AoK and ME 3...so any suggestions towards getting my rig at least capable of running these games would be appreciated...

verify if ur motherboard will support the processor upgrade..., else sell mb,procie,mems and add it to ur 5k budget and get decent am3 procie, mobo and dd3 1333mhz rams

u can try a phenom II x2 555 or athlon ii x4 640...

its under the 5k budget and its am3...

not so sure how to verify if my mobo will support am3 now, but i guess it does now coz my bios version is now 3.1 from 3.0 after the flashing... my plan was to buy the am3 procie and try if the system would boot, and if it doesn't, buy a mobo with am3 support...ehehehe

but this is the plan really: upgrade vc, procie, mobo and rams before december of this year...

The most beneficial upgrade you can do is to get a better videocard rather than a processor, games these day are more GPU dependent.

i THINK that upgrading the procie now is the best upgrade available for me considering my budget... read some reviews and saw videos off the net and phenom II x2 555 is highly regarded, but will this proc be great for the upcoming games like ME3 and TW:AoK? since they say that games now would better run on a quad core system? i am considering the phenom II x2 555 or the athlon II x4 635( leaning towards x4 635) please tell me your take on this...

hehe...i know 5k is a fairly low budget for a VC upgrade...

anyways i am not looking to max out these latest games...ako screen kay up to 1280x1024 ra so i guess buying a GTS 450 would be okay to play the latest games on this resolution? and would my x2 5000+ hold back the GTS 450?
