Because those business permits were handed out on the period of Mayor Cortes. Yep, exactly.

I understand your situation but I think the reason why they did a rush relocation is because they already know what the vendors will do if they filed a notice to relocate. It happens all the time, people are given notice then they go to the court and get a restraining order and the issue drags on for years, maybe even decades. In the meantime the public suffer because the area is congested and vendors who shouldn't be there because they don't own the land nor legal tenants are blocking sidewalks and roads.

Being in the same location for decades doesn't entitle anyone to stay forever if they like. There's only a few instances where this is allowed, and this isn't one of them. How do I know this, because I'm in real estate and I know a little about these things.

I'm being blunt here because I sense that this is heading towards some kind of litigation, and I don't want these people to be taken advantage of by unscrupulous lawyers who will extort outrageous acceptance fees and promise them something that they just won't get.

Kung naay pangurakot sa mandaue lahi na pud na nga problema. But if you ask me, the reason why that public official was able to extort money from the vendors is because the vendors know they are settling there illegally...

Yes, they have to be renewed yearly. The latest permits were approved January this year.

I do know and realize all these monroy. Going to court against these power-hungry people would not do any good. There are better ways to implement it man unta. It was the way they asked them to move out which was not very nice. Maybe they could have set up a forum and had a dialogue with the vendors and discussed how they can all cooperate to solve the congestion problem. Again, when I talk of vendors here, I'm talking about the bibinceras, not everyone kay kahibaw ko nga daghan dihang mga hugawan ug gahi ug ulo. Maminaw man pud unta ni sila. Pero ang gibuhat gi abog sila nga morag iro. Tan-awa karon di ba naa ra gihapon ang mga gahi ug ulo. Ang mga nagtinarong mao na hinuon ang nangawagtang.

Still...it boils down to flaws in the system which have to be addressed. Because the sad reality is that the poor and the ignorant suffers...and there are numerous vultures and crocodiles waiting to take advantage.

Another sad reality: Mandaue's heritage is dying.
I'm not against progress, but...I'm still a sentimental fool.

Dia pay lain. Nananghid ning uban sa mga building owners nga anha mamaligya sa ilang yuta, meaning private property. Gisugtan na. Pagkadungog sa taga Tourism, ingon dayon ilang i discourage ang building owners ani. Unsa man juy tumong ninyo Tourism? Why are you killing people's livelihoods? Hasta ang mayor nakaingon nga wa na pud nay labot kay private property na man na. Bisan bogo kasabot man tingai ana! Be hain na man nang ilang gisaad nga stall sa mga tindera'g bibinca?

Many modern cities around the world are desperately trying to preserve their local cultures. Why are we doing the opposite? I know a handful of foreigners and not one of them wants to see another polluted metropolis.
