I understand your situation but I think the reason why they did a rush relocation is because they already know what the vendors will do if they filed a notice to relocate. It happens all the time, people are given notice then they go to the court and get a restraining order and the issue drags on for years, maybe even decades. In the meantime the public suffer because the area is congested and vendors who shouldn't be there because they don't own the land nor legal tenants are blocking sidewalks and roads.
Being in the same location for decades doesn't entitle anyone to stay forever if they like. There's only a few instances where this is allowed, and this isn't one of them. How do I know this, because I'm in real estate and I know a little about these things.
I'm being blunt here because I sense that this is heading towards some kind of litigation, and I don't want these people to be taken advantage of by unscrupulous lawyers who will extort outrageous acceptance fees and promise them something that they just won't get.
But if you ask me, the reason why that public official was able to extort money from the vendors is because the vendors know they are settling there illegally...
I do know and realize all these monroy. Going to court against these power-hungry people would not do any good. There are better ways to implement it man unta. It was the way they asked them to move out which was not very nice. Maybe they could have set up a forum and had a dialogue with the vendors and discussed how they can all cooperate to solve the congestion problem. Again, when I talk of vendors here, I'm talking about the bibinceras, not everyone kay kahibaw ko nga daghan dihang mga hugawan ug gahi ug ulo. Maminaw man pud unta ni sila.
Still...it boils down to flaws in the system which have to be addressed. Because the sad reality is that the poor and the ignorant suffers...and there are numerous vultures and crocodiles waiting to take advantage.
Another sad reality: Mandaue's heritage is dying.
I'm not against progress, but...I'm still a sentimental fool.
They are called "sidewalks" for a reason...
Be bayri ning papela. Pero di ko magsaba after 3 months i demolish tamo kay kahibaw man ko daan nga sidewalk inyong tindahan. Bright! Basin ug naay mangayg permit mamaligya babaw sa flyover tagaan ra pud.
Dia pay lain. Unsa man juy tumong ninyo Tourism? Why are you killing people's livelihoods? Bisan bogo kasabot man tingai ana! Be hain na man nang ilang gisaad nga stall sa mga tindera'g bibinca?
Many modern cities around the world are desperately trying to preserve their local cultures. Why are we doing the opposite? I know a handful of foreigners and not one of them wants to see another polluted metropolis.
what local cultures?
basin diay ni violate na sila sa highway code i know there is a loopholes, but perhaps this is their way of rectifying it... acording sa ako friend engr sa dpwh, boot huna-hunaon, daghan kay violation ang mga establishment along the sidewalk, gi tolerate lang kay looy sab...
