another favorite topic which has caught my interest in my 2nd year in pscyh. is the structure of personality
Id, Ego and Superego
The spirit of a newborn child just has an id, the instinctive incentives and reflexes that the human beings have developed during the last centuries. The only function of the id is to respond to the incentives. The ego develops itself from the id and from the discovery that the behavior of the id can have tedious results. The superego, a result of a person's socialization, is basically just the conscience, which mediates between needs of the id and the ego.
@juan_carlos: hhmmmm murag kaila ra jud siguro ta...hehehehe!
@kd: yeah , i was about to state the structures of personality considering your interest on defense mechanisms.

OT: @Crashy sige nalang gud na....lalabs bitaw na nimo..so glad you guys are back!

@dessay: sus, ako cranky permi. hahaha.. bitaw oi, sometimes our jobs (HR, guidance, etc.) would entail us to be in control of our behaviors considering that this is the basis of credibility sa among profession. would other Psyc majors agree with me on this?
OT: hahaha looy jud kaayo si crashy ana kay perti jud type. hehehe. miss you pud mam dessay! so glad as well nga post na pud mi balik. hehehe
taking up psych major during college is just a minor subject. i gained some masteral units in Industrial Psyhoclogy at USJR and it was really fun. they call us "psychologist". since then mahal man ang units, i discontinue then wa na pod koy social life. but now, i'm applying MA Social Psych at UP Diliman and hopefully can start next sem. good luck to me.
@thisbe: our professor during my masteral class told us once that once you graduate masteral or gained units, then you will be considered "psychologist" coz it's akin to being consultant.
sa sobraan pagka control nako sa behavior kai mura makapraning na coz true deeds is suppressed already..kapoi makipagplastikan kumbaga..hehehehe
@mitch: hmmm.. as i remember it right, i think you can be called a psychologist if you have given a major contribution to the field of Psychology. renowned pud ka nga psychologist KUNG ma recognize ni sa mga national and international psychological associations.if you have a doctorate degree, you can be given the title psychologist as you have contributed your thesis to the psychological field. i've read this from a book somewhere. i just can't remember where. hehehe..
^^ a masteral graduate has her contribution through her thesis or project..and doctorate is dissertation.. only few resume doctorate but many are called psychologists..hehehe
@ mitch, my bestfriend is doing her masteral degree at UP Diliman, she's in her thesis stage na... it's not easy 'coz she's working at TESDA (mao man siguro tu) at the moment, she wanted to to take a 4 month study leave but due to the demands of her job wala aprubi iyang application for leave. So medyo ma-delay iyang pagtapos sa course.  Amaze man gani ko maka-internet ka pa, kay since she started working there in Manila, maihap ra number of times that I get to chat with her online. Good luck to you though.

* Here in Australia, it takes about 3 years to finish a psychology degree. In order for a student to proceed to the 4th year level, which we call Honours degree, the student must have a high B mark or an A (i think). After that, they can register as a psychologist and has to be supervised for at least two years by someone who is already experienced in the field.  They can do masteral degree while working as a psychologist or do a doctoral degree.
I asked my mum the difference between a counsellor and a psychologist...Kay gatuo man ko na once ma psychologist kana pede na maging counselor...But it's not the case, she said in order for a psychology major to become a counselor he/she has to take up a counselling course first. Dunno kung unsa ang method dihaa sa Pinas but diria sa Australia anyone can take up a counseling degree with no psychology background. Pero sa case sa akong mother, taking up psych first was an advantage, kay wala  siya galisod ron compared sa iyang ubang mga classmates.
