Mavericks shrug off Karl's comments
Jason Kidd sitting again; Mavericks shrug off Karl's comments | Dallas Mavericks Blog | Sports News | News for Dallas, Texas | The Dallas Morning News............. Meanwhile, the Mavericks were still digesting Denver coach George Karl's comments that he'd prefer to see the Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs than the Oklahoma City Thunder. It will be one or the other and the Nuggets can help decide their opponent tonight in Oklahoma City. A loss there and the Thunder will stay right on the Mavericks' tail - and possibly pass them if the Mavericks lose to the Clips - for third.
"I don't know what to say, I'm shaking so much,'' owner Mark Cuban joked when asked if he was cowering at the thought of seeing the Nuggets in the playoffs. "Every team in the West is tough. There's no layups.''
Rick Carlisle said that he was happy to hear that Karl was back to poking sharp sticks at anybody, even if it was the Mavericks.
"This time of year is rife with all this stuff,'' Carlisle said. "That's what it's about. If you're referring to George's comments, I read the story and to me, more than anything, what this means is that George has completely beaten cancer and he's back to his old self. For all of us, that's great news because he's meant an awful lot to coaching for a lot of years and to me, this feistiness means that he's feeling good. And if we see those guys, they'll be ready, and we'll be ready, too.
"It's his opinion and that's good. This time of year is all about this kind of stuff.''

@ESPN_Caplan: Wow, Jason Terry is losing his mind. He got into it with JJ, then Carlisle kicked him out of huddle. Cuban had to restrain him.

Terry has words with Barea and Carlisle
A potentially ugly incident that started between Jason Terry and J.J. Barea bubbled over on the Mavericks' bench early in the second quarter of tonight's game against the LA Clippers.
It started with Terry getting the ball taken away that led to a Clippers' bucket.
Upon the following inbounds pass, he rolled the ball toward Barea and Barea clearly wasn't happy with the way the ball was delivered to him.
The Mavericks called a timeout and when Terry got to the bench, Barea was yelling at him. Soon, Terry was yelling back and several assistant coaches and players intervened.
Then coach Rick Carlisle got involved and clearly wasn't happy with what was transpiring. It looked like Carlisle was motioning Terry to leave the bench area. Terry took a seat at the far end of the bench and players and assistant coaches continued to talk to him and keep him away from the main huddle.
At the Mavericks' next timeout, owner Mark Cuban, who sits near the bench, spent a long time talking to Terry, who was smiling by the end of the timeout.
No sign yet whether Terry will re-enter the game or not.
