Hacking does not apply to all evil bro. Hacking can be used when debugging a system. Like when building a router you have to try to hack it in order to test the stability of the router. They will not necessarily hack your files bro. The people who will join RootCon are decent people with hacking skills. Some of these people will join RooTCon because of Information Security. It's not like hacking bank accounts or credit cards. This is more of an open source hacking.
They will not be using our rigs for hacking games/purposes. Project - X is just like a voluntary work where we can help and advise to them the right rigs that they need for their computing needs. Coz sometimes it takes time for a computer to compute the algorithms especially when it deals with random and not sequential variables.
The hacking games they propose are like vulnerabilities of the system and how sniffers/phishing works. It's like a jeopardy style of game.
Why is this close door?
Because lessons and seminars like these do not come cheap or free. RootCon are hiring people from Security Agencies to give us their trade secrets. Remember security modules or stuff are really expensive.
Why does Project-X participant have to pay?
As I've stated we will have freebies, our OWN games, eye candy competition and some freebies. And the rest of the fee is for food and snacks.
Therefore this event is LEGAL.

Regarding the price:
Khbaw ko nga nag problema mo sa price. Don't worry coz i'm working on it so that ma decrease xa. Possibly ma free pud xa.
Another thing:
- RootCon CommitteeOriginal plan is to have an offline "hacking contest" at the event venue. The ROOTCON committee will set up servers, network, WiFi, etc for the contestants to join. Those who can join the contests are the attendees (paid participants for 2 days) of the seminars. These attendees of the seminars are invited to bring their laptop should they wish to join the hacking contest.
Of course there is a prize for the winner. The committee will set up something like "Capture The Flag". Participants of the Project-X are not entitled to join the hacking contests. Computers and other hardwares of Project-X are not used for the contests but merely for exhibits and showcasing your rig for educational purposes.
pang showcase and exhibits diay ato mga rig....
unsa ni para makat-on ug panghack?
@j_rotten
thanks! Actually they do. The purpose of project-x is just to enlighten them that dli basta basta ang hardware paliton para ma effective hacker sila.
@jay
partly showcase but we're free to have a LAN party. Beer is allowed man cguro.
@annan
PM me if you wanna join RootCon. Being part of rootcon will allow you to grasp the knowledge of hacking especially when we hear it from those working at InfoSec
