ako diehard ATI/AMD jud baya ko kay wah pako naka video card og nvidia sukad pero murag ganahan jud ko aning 560 dah
not sure why this topic has reached 590 vs 6990 discussions, and I'm too lazy to read back... hehehe...
here's my input on the TS's inquiry...
get a hd6950 2gb, there's still a chance to unlock it to hd6970 speeds even now.. my 3mos. old hd6950 is still running at these speeds:
even if it doesn't unlock fully, almost all 2gb hd6950s can unlock shaders without problems, so that will still give a performance boost.
btw, make sure lang nga if mag 6950 ka nga maigo sa imong case kay taas jutay raba compared sa 560

Hi everyone. I think both cards are good for playing most recent games out there. I just would like to share something about these high end video cards. They all require high powered power supplies, most of you may already know about that. Which may come as an additional cost for our rigs. I have this video card that required a power supply with 26 amperes on the 12 volt rail. I didn't notice that before. My PC's old power supply (a cheap one) was only capable of giving out 20 amperes on the 12 volt rail. Which probably explained why my PC occasionally shuts down after long hours of playing games and bust out twice. My card was underpowered. I bought a new power supply with a 30 ampere rating on the 12 volt rail and ever since, my PC doesn't shut down randomly anymore. So, it is good to check out first the ampere rating on the 12 volt rail power supply you want to buy for powering up these cards. It's usually written on the sticker sheet of the PSU. I looked at the net and got this info:
Radeon HD 6970 - 34A and a 550W PSU minimum
Radeon HD 6950 - 30A and a 500W PSU minimum
GeForce GTX 580 - 40A and a 600W PSU minimum
GeForce GTX 560 Ti - 31A and a 500W PSU minimum.
Here's the URL link: GPU power requirements - PureOverclock Forums
So for the 2 cards mentioned here, I'm no PSU expert though, and as mentioned by that site, the safe PSU to get is one that has a rating of at least 35 amperes on the 12 volt rail. Might be pricey though.
If anyone could also say, where can we get a price wise of such a PSU here in CDO? Thanks.
