bro, dont be ignorant. Iraq has plenty of jobs to offer for our jobless Filipinos. wala na nagpa sabot nga adventurous ang mga filipino, nanimpalad ang uban sa laing nasud para mo buhi sa ilang pamilya.

sis understandable ang imong concern, but the sad truth is we are a third world country with lesser resources to provide better jobs for philippine workforce. mao naman gyud na ang tawag sa kadaghanan nato nga manglarga para makakita ug maayong trabaho. and even if our workers are in other countries their remittances have greatly helped our economy.

In terms of laws to protect our ofws, thats precisely the reason why the senator is having this ban reviewed because the existing ofws in iraq are not getting the benefits from OWWA and POEA, simply because a ban was imposed. if this ban is lifted then their work will be legalized so as providing work opportunities for those who needs it.

@ boy_kulot: to start of laki sad ko bai..wehehe.. I am an OFW myself..IMHO bai, opening job outside the country should not our senators priority. but the safety & welfare of the the filipinos (OFWs included). middle east is already having problems so why open another bigger problem with iraq. if you are an OFW yourself then perhaps you will understand how lousy & slow our Govt embassies are (they can be arrogant sometimes). daghan na naabuso nga mga OFWs in the middle east (jordan, libya, qatar, even HK, KL, singapore). opening it up might be good for some but the sad reality is, kita ray giilad sa mga senators. & pailad sad ta coz ato lagi isugal ato future para lang mahatagan og future ang ato families. what our dear senator should concentrate is our own country's laws & also invite investors to come in, dili ang lifting of ban. Possibly the reason why mao ni ilang gilihok kay mosikat man sila both ways : 1) amongst her fellow senators kay wa may maigo ani nga move 2) to the unknowing public, ma popular sya kay lagi makapalarga. (ikalipay ba nato nga mabunkag ang family? ang illegal recruitment? try listening to RMN manila radio program called "Bantay OFW" (or any radio & TV program regarding OFWs). you will see what i mean.

IMHO, this is not a good move. there are more important things than iraq. the Philippines needs more schools & more teachers training. we have a lot of people in the philippines who is underpaid. Mas maayo pa mao na ilang unahon. those OFWs who are now in iraq knows the risk in going there. it is stated in the passport (even the green one) that we are not allowed to travel to iraq for a reason. (sorry sa mga naigo, but this is just truth). The Good senator should've alloted her budget better. just my 2 cents.

daghan na kaayo og jobs sa Qatar, & open nasad ang Taiwan (+ naa pay guam)..nganong kinahanglan paman ang Iraq man jud ablihan? nga di man tawn safe didto. Way ayo nga senador, ngita lang guro og paagi asa niya matapak ang iyang budget. para ingnon nga naa silay trabahao..Di jud ko uyon ani kay klaro kaayo ning kita ray giilad ani..
