Boracay; where the sand is as white as sugar and as fine a babypowder (okay not really baby powder)
If you plan to go there via Bus from Ilo-ilo; it was pegged at around 200-250 and it was fully Air-conditioned. We rode in a newer bus that our buses here in Cebu comes pale in comparison. The guys manning the terminal/buses are quite friendly and genuinely helpful so ditch that Cebuano cynicism. Its a 4 to 5 hours country side type-of-ride. (they wait for the bus to be well occupied before departing, which isn't a problem if there are a lot of tourists) Their was just one pitstop. So don't drink a lot of liquids or take a sidetrip to the loo before the bus departs.

The banca or Ferry Ride costs just around 75 but the terminal fee and other fees were a bit exorbitant; it could reach to almost 200. They have this all sorts of fee for everything. The likes are; they want you to pay for the terminal, for being there in Boracay (there was some fee that could be waved if you actually work in any of the establishments their just be ready with your company ID) another fee for keeping the green environment or for the ecology and other stuff like that.

When you get there you will take another trike ride to go to either Station 1,2 or 3. just about 25 per head for Station 2. Now I tell you the people with the Trikes or Multicabs could be a bit tricky. If they give you obnoxious prices for a ride tell them to go to... but hey this ain't your place so just keep a level headed frame of mind. I suggest the Trikes in a que line is the best option if you don't have somebody to pick you up. Enjoy!

On my accounts, yes its a bit true but they still manage to keep it clean. As early as 5 AM (where I take my early morning runs on the sand) Folks there line up from the point of Station 3 going to Station 1. Side by side and I mean really elbows-to-elbows they stroll down slowly and pick up every tiny pieces of trash on the sand. (If that drunk man lying on the beach could fit unto their sack they'd be sacking him). Then some shorefront owners have their guys rake the sand. The floating green algae or seaweeds doesn't get washed up until around 9 or 10am. Not advisable for kids to swim early mornings.
