Faith no more, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus, and the likes maybe classified as funk metal / funk rock, so definitely it's not foreign to Filipinos anymore. P.O.T.'s "Yugyugan na" sounds close to Funk metal and of course Cebu's "Mano mano" also.

Extreme IS funk metal. No band here in the Philippines has yet reached that level of being funk metal.

Pornografitti was a good album but they become more poetic on three sides to every story.... the sound became darker when waiting for the punchline was released guess every musician I know got a thumbs up when we are talking about Hip Today.... they are not just a mellow band known for the "more than words" love song but come to think of it that Nuno is one of the best guitarist known for his palm muting ability even in his "midnight express" you can tell thats Nuno on guitars even if he is using an acoustic. Mike Mangini (Vai's Drummer) was better than the previous drummer of Extreme... I've been a fan of this band since I was in Elementary... (1980's) Those were my wonder years...
