@all: I only know JCN superficially. He was no longer with NEC when I joined NEC but I won't talk about him or ICOMM. The only advice I can give is that you should let people know what you feel about them or the situation. Heck, I did that with my previous Japanese boss. We're still friends because I didn't let my resentment build up inside. Now, if your boss doesn't listen, then talk to his boss. However, I must warn you that based on my 3 years of experience working in a Japanese company, they usually avoid confrontations and take a long time to make decisions. Regardless of these, still let them know that you're not getting along with your boss and ask to be transferred. A very awkward situation to be in I know (believe me ni-agi na ko ani kay naa sad ko English na boss na manyakis tung una sige pakuyog mga hubo2x bars, then I got fed up and asked a Filipino co-manager na ka-rank niya to request the president to transfer me to another unit). I don't know if my advice will apply there at ICOMM though kay Japanese management (sakto) sad diha. I don't know if you'll get a less-than-stellar evaluation if you do this before the merit rating period. I-balance na lang need nimo for experience, salary and dignity (kung mada pa hala pag-antos). Ang ako ra man philosophy in life is, "What goes around, comes around" or "people reap what they sow." Just do your job and try to avoid politics as much as possible. Kung kahinanglan mu-kiss ass, then do it for the good of people other than yourself.
show off cmontoya!just feed the dirty politics?unsa man imo himuon?sakay nalang?hangtud sa makarealize nalang ka na d diay maayu!you have no idea!
personally I don't really like the idea of kissing someones arse so-to-speak.but if you "cmontoya" did it, then i'll take off my hat, rather pants for yah' and keep it up..
@kaburnikan: I'm not sure what you mean by "just feed the dirty politics?" If you mean "ignore dirty politics", then yes I do unless it interrupts my work or my team's. Then I do some "politicking." Bai, ayaw intawon i-direct imo anger nako. Tinuod imo gisulti na "I have no idea." Wa ko kaila kaayo ni JCN or do I know anyting about ICOMM. Ang ako lang, ni-agi sad ko na mga boss na wa nako na-uyunan so either nag-resign ko or request ko transfer to another boss na kahibalo ko na dili nako makabang-ga. Cool lang bai. Dili ako imo kontra.
@digitalsuperman: Ass-kissing doesn't mean being a "Yes-Man." Maybe "ass-kissing" isn't the right term to use. "Ass-kissing" for me is when you use a little bit of influence to sway your boss to look your way and make him take credit for it. Whether he or she attributes the actual credit back to you or not doesn't really bother me as long as it gets the job done. Lisod man gud i-explain usahay ni na situation. Wa man sad ko nag-ingon na maayo kung laki and tell you that this works all the time. It doesn't. Daghan factors - budget constraints, saving face, etc.
ok dude, first off, I'm not against your arse kissing ways. Whatever works for you, then go for it...second, i didn't say maayong laki ka. i just said what i had to say and for the record i never really did mention i was against you and your arse kissing ways. i'm just implying that there has to be another way, it takes more than one way to skin a cat so-to-speak thats it.
@mongol if wla ka nanginahanglan ug kwarta then ok ra sa icomm. yes its true na low ang salary but nice ang experience. you'll learn a lot of things there. labi na sa VB-developers kay ok kaau tanan tau dra.labi nang bago na manager nila the best gyd.(daweeendiiii)hahaha. atleast naa na direction karon ang team.unlike before. i've been in that company and i had a great experience there. lingaw gyud kaau mga tau sa vb-dev group. @mongol sa vb-dev nlng pang-apply. ayaw lng sa huna2 sa sweldo.
Without actually hearing tone of voice and seeing body language, ma misinterpret dyud written statements usahay. Anyway, maybe I stuck my nose where I shouldn't have in this thread.
no dude, you just pulled the wrong trigger...
