That way of thinking makes our government much worse than it already is.

It may not be the main one but it is one of the heavy reasons why prostitution is still rampant. If only the parents were responsible and educated enough. We can't always blame the government for having a poor life.

bai..i didn't say NUMBER 1 but it is part of the problem. BAD parenting..if you look at thailand, (it is illegal there but gitolerate) you will see bisan bata ila na gi sulod ana nga trabaho... when i say pabor ko ma legal siya, pasabot nako ana after masolve na ang dagko nato nga issue (unemployment, corruption, etc..)

what is the main reason of prostitution - lack of economic opportunity..

i guess mao na dapat ang i address pag una before we discuss about legalizing prostitution...

^ It's easy to think of prostitutes as victims, but some of these girls earn 5k+ per day which is significantly higher than most executives earn here. The problem as I see it is that due to the very large population there is far more demand for jobs than there is (or ever will be) employment opportunities and so even the most basic of jobs demand certain qualifications whereas a prostitute's ticket to success is simply her appearance; no education... no problem. It's perhaps not fair or right, but it does seem to be reality.

wa juy balaod against parents forcing you to take your profession (labi na kay imo jud nang eskwelahan).
but if we are talking about prostitution, then lahi na bai..the gov't can always create a special law para ana...parehas gud anang "wang-wang"..special law man na...diba?
So you spit it out. Dili maau ang prostitution due to heath risk, nya i legalize na nuon? Ug kung ma legal ma force ang ginikanan to engage their daughter in this trade due to poverty. Don't be hypocrite if you will tell me not. If mo ask ka sa parents, maybe they will tell you sa kaayohan pud na sa anak. Unsa iyang kinitaan magamit na nya sa iyang future.

Daghan pobre sa atong nasod bai, unya kung himuon ning legal makahatag ni opportunity to some people to engage on this trade. Its a fact nga daghang kwarta ani nga trabaho. Mao nay giingon nga puslan may legal, lubos-lubosan nalang.

And all of this boils down to our culture problem.

hahaha..balik2 ni bai..again, legalization of prositution in our country is not our top priority. mas daghan pa ta kailangan unahon..& again di ko moingon nga pabor ko aning trabaho-a but let's face it, naa bay makawagtang ani? sa tanan countries nga ako naadtoan bai, wa pako kita og country nga way prosti (or maybe kuwang pa ang ako naadtoan- sulayan nako sunod sa africa og middle east..wehehe)

then balik ta sa Legalizaion issue... sa usa ka progressive country bai mowork ang idea sa legalization ani. are you really sure nga kaya na nimo i-sulod ang imo anak pagkaprosti if datu mo nga family? the answer is a big NO dba? i already gave examples earlier ; ang thailand (illegal; Not a rich country) & HK (legal; datu nga country). so with my example, makita nimo nga pwede di ba? (if datu & progessive ang country)mabuhat..plus dili makaguba sa country ang paglegalize sa prostitution(that is if you have a government like hk & set-up Rules about it). & of course di ni pwede karon sa pinas..so does anti political dynasty law (i'm just citing a realistic scenario ha). di jud ni pwede karon dayon.

when i said to make special laws bai i was pointing out nga pwede maghimo og law ang government kung gustohon jud. if himoon mang legal ni sa pinas(IN THE FUTURE), parehas rasad sa gisulti ni infidel diri, di na 123 ra bai, studyhan tawn na oi..dako kaayo nagbudget ang mga senators para ana. again di pa pwede karon. (plus the thread is not about TODAY in the Philippines, it is about Legalization in general, or basin sayop lang ko pagsabot..TS please correct me).

i agree bai, daghan jud pordoy sa ato bai. So as daghan man sad tapulan, daghan bisosyo...daghan thread about ana nila. we know unsa ang solution ana bai...dili prostitution. if you say nga naabuse sila, naa may balaod nga VOWC bai, why man wala na ni work karon? why man naay gipang-abuse karon?..tungod na sa failure sa govt (& apil sad ang society). we have a bigger problem in our society today & it is rooted na sa ato culture. we should open our minds sad usahay. i am not an expert about this but i try to look at an issue on a different POV. AIDS/HIV, do you think nga mawagtang na if mawagtag ang prostitution? if mao pa na ang rason bai, then nasolbad na ta nang problemaha....education ang solution bai..if you know nga having different partners will expose you to STD/HIV/AIDS would you still make out with a total stranger? well, this is a different issue, but a little in line gihapon...

Yes i agree..we have a big cultural problem...so we should start changing it. padayonon nato ning discussion bai..let's make it worth our time..wehehe

@Eve - Most of the people here that is against the legalisation of prostitution are basing their arguments over the current situation of our country. Good post and I pretty much agree with it.

    Agreed.
There will always be people who will refute your arguments. I'm not saying that it is a bad thing since what we're saying or discussing here isn't generally plausible either. We're merely stating the what-would-be benefits in legalising prostitution. No one would really be able to say what's going to happen not unless we do it. That is of course, not going to happen anytime soon.

So far, the majority of the people here are rightists.
