it's the game they chose to play. they probably knew what was in store if they lost the game. you can't blame china for giving them the penalty that they deserved.

They've put China in a difficult place. One of the convicted claims that she didn't know there were drugs in the lining of the baggage she was carrying. If what she's telling is true then she is an innocent victim who was duped by the smugglers. I think it's possible she's telling the truth, but then from China's point of view, if they accept her story and let her off the hook it would open the floodgates for smugglers to use this loophole to get their drugs into China.
This is why what the Chinese government official said makes a lot of sense, "this isn't about the accused, this is about deterrence." In other words, it's nothing personal, it's the law...
what if usa sa mga bitayonon inyong ginikanan, igsu-on, anak, etc.
unsa mn inyong buhaton?
Depends, really. If I had a cousin who's a wayward type of person and admittedly indulges himself with drugs then I would feel less sorry for him, STILL, he's family so I would try anything to get him back here for a good arse whippin!
Then again, there's not much our government can do about it. Those people knew the risks and still they did it.
i hope this never happens to me but, if it does. i think i'd feel guilty as hell if i ever partook in the wealth that they gained from what they were doing. i'd also do what i can to try and get them out of the situation. however, in the end, i'd have to accept that justice must be served and the pain i am feeling is but a fraction of the lives that have been destroyed because of the actions of their actions.
