I can't say it any better than D`Monyita. She knows. If God says "my grace is sufficient enough for you" it doesn't mean to say that you will just wait for graces from heaven to fall on your lap and not do anything about it. God helps those who help themselves might sound more appropriate for the scenario. Work in the U.S. is 24 hrs. round the clock varying shifts. Workforce here never sleeps unlike back home daghay siesta time right? We dont have idle time like that here. Our salaries might be high but come to think that we are also spending in dollars, not pesos. What really makes me feel bad is even with me, whether that be friends and/or relatives, asking for help, sure we send them...unya magpadala na ka wala pay thank you much worse mo complain pa nga kulang kuno and they give you a long litany of list what they need to do for home improvement and what they need to pay the next thing you know, they have not even taken care of those things with the money you sent. What also makes me feel bad, is that they only remember you when they need money. The rest of the holidays they cant even remember to say hello to you.

ya, kultura sa pilipinas ning extended support to the point of entitlement. parents would say "inig human nimo dai ikaw nay gasto sa imong manghud". For those abroad, you have the burden of sending your dollars back home. mangluod dayun mga relatives kung dili padad-an ug kwarta, mo ingon "tihik kaayu".

ay streetcar, nice idea jud nang potted herbs. I've been planning on planting my own herbs/spices pero i never get around to doing it. It's kinda strange but not many filipino families keep potted herbs. mag reklamo nga mahal na gulay pero dili man sad mananum lagi? I know that onions, tomatoes, chilis, and ginger can be planted in pots. Malunggay, alugbati, and papaya can be planted in backyards. Mas daghan pa man hinuon ang orchids.

mananum na diay ko uy. when i finally have those pots I'll post their pics here (or more appropriately sa hobbies section, under the thread title PLANTS.)

Hi Ms. Beau, kalami oi. that's what i miss about back home kay gusto ko ing ana ra akong life mag tanom tanom ko ug veggies and flowers here dili man sab ko katanum kay i live in a condo daming bawal. So i just buy veggies pero as you know California is really cheap when it comes to food. Mahal dire housing. I pay $1,600. a month for my condo. So i'll just wait na lang mo retire ko puyo ko sa Cebu kay ganahan ko dinha....maybe 6 yrs. time i can do that and retire to live back home. God willing, if my health will still be okay by then hope so I'd like to have a big backyard cause i want to plant veggies and flowers.

Its okay to have that filipino value of helping siblings to school naturally kung kinsay mas gaan mao siya ang motabang ug atiman sa mga igsoon but still, they get spoiled brat man sab. And you are right if you balibad to them about money, ikaw pa masama. what a mentality that is di ko talaga ma getz yan kung minsan.

ay naku! korek ka dyan! pagandahin pa gyud ang orchids by buying expensive blooming chuvas and what-have-you...pero ala naman ulam hehehehehehe. kalokah!

you can also plant OKRA sa pots. nagawa ko na yan....i have tried carrots when i was around 6 years old but i never got around to harvesting it because gilumos sa ako yaya. hahahahahaha actually...ang alugbati u can plant in pots too. kasi tusok system lang man yan sila...tapos akyat bahay gang na hahahahaha. in other words...you just need a big-sized pot with a sturdy trellis at the back or a huyang(?) trellis pero nakasandal sa pader. or no trellis...just let the alugbats find its way around which is what happened to mine. hahahahaha

in baguio i saw SAYOTE nga nasa tabing-daan lang...sa mga fence nitubo....in balamban..dun sa...bi guan resort ba yon....i saw lots and lots and lots of sayote. you can plant man sayote in a pot...just provide lang gyud overhead criss-crossed wires(alambre) for them to make latay...you have sayote na (which my 2-yr-old loves to eat) ...you have a shaded spot pa jud where u can make tambay....galing noh?

SITAW....BATAW...PATANI... hahahahaha btaw oi...sitaw puwede rin sa pot. di ko pa nagagawa yan... dami man dyan...basta research lang ka...if there is a will...there is a way! wooohooo! sermon na naman.

Mother Dee, dire sa California daghan kaayo mapalit nga alugbati which is my favorite i like that gisa sa karne or isagol sa mongos. Daghan sab dire malunggay, dahon sa sili, dahon sa whatever, kang kong. Just reminded me one time sa akong pagka crave ug something to eat nga authentic pinas gyud....nipalit ko ug butong young coconut in a shell. Its very cheap here so i bought two of those kay excited ko mokaon ug butong. Sus guess ba naman pag-abot sa balay, i think it might have taken me 30 minutes to cut the shell open. I dont know how to open a coconut shell. Naguba lagi ang knife nga akong gigamit on top i made so much mess mga husk nag fly over sa kitchen sink and floor niingon akong daughter next time she is going to take a video of me trying to open a coconut, heheh wawa ang stainless steel heavy duty knife ko grabe napudpud ba lang...that tells you, i'm doing something wrong i dont think i know how to open a coconut it shouldn't be like that. Naa siguro na way unsaon pag abri ana oist, ang juice gilugit ra man to nako sa knife one end of the coconut migawas man ang juice gisawo lang nako sa baso but how do you cut a coconut open. For the time being, dili sa ko mopalit ug fresh young coconut in the shell kay disaster area akong kitchen when i do that. Palit na lang ko ug buko juice in the can, hehehe

Pirmi ko luto ug Pakbet dire i love it Mother Dee love gulays nia na man sab dire tanan from kalabasa, alugbate, malunggay, sayote, to sitaw, okra at iba pa. Wish i can do that trellis thing and planting veggies how fun. I only have one thriving plant in a pot at home. Actually its a fruit tree called chinese lo quat or lo kwat fruit. Daghan dire magtanum sa mga pots from roses to lemon tree, etc.

Same to you hugs Mother Dee, hug na rin to Ms. Beau... sori na OT sa kalambing imbis frugality nahimong Hugs na man hinoon, lol....pardon muah

OT: Streetcar, is that your picture in avatar? mao bana tawag ana ? Guapa man diay ka noh?

Bitaw noh? Makaplant gani mo dinha sa states ug mga gulay dinhi pa kaha sa pilipinas? the problem with some of the pinoys is being lazy to plant, that's why they go to urban areas to look for a job bringing the entire family mao daghan na sad squatters..Actually if they will just stay in the province and plant mabuhi man gyud cla...Also when it comes to saving it's best if you keep 20 percent of what you earn for savings in cases of emergencies like getting hospitalized and also invest in insurance...I really believe in buying insurance plans cause eventually we really grow old and also what if we get sick?if we are diagnosed to be terminally ill? esp. to those breadwinners and . wife is not working, they should buy insurance plans.
