There is no evidence that supports the idea that lifting stunts growth.
An increase in height occurs in the epiphyseal plates of the long bones. There is no proof that load bearing/compressive forces applied to the bones 1-2 hours 3-4 times a week causes these plates to shrink. On the contrary, lifting can actually stimulate increased bone density.
Besides, not too many people in the gym do honest-to-goodness, full range of motion squats.
Lack of sleep and improper nutrition, now that is another matter.
