generic is good...i'm pro-generic kay barato and effective man sab so far
as much as i can, i always go with generic. works the same as the overly priced branded drugs.
mao lagi naa ra bay pharex ug ritemed karon nga barato ra , aprobado baya ni sila sa BFAD so that means epektibo jud ni siya,
i made a study when i was in college about generic vs branded drugs.. in our research findings.. it's typically the same drug w/ at least .5% difference in some ingredients..(para lang ma-ingon dili xa "pirated").. so in my opinion.. based on our findings.. generic drugs is the practical solution
maau ang generic brand na made in the philippines jud.. kay naa jud generic na cents ra ang price(distributor) pero mga 2 0r 3 pesos nani sa pharmacy, drugs from india, thailand, and CHina.. hehehe
wow .. it is nice to here that miss kit kat ... doctor ka ? hehe just asking
mahadlok man ang doctor kay basig wala sya trip to europe nga commision kung di niya ma prescribe ang branded nga drugs. hehehe. it happens my dad is a doctor, medreps will do absolutely anything to sell there products. from the free tshirts, caps, ballpens, mugs, dinners to the more exciting gifts like round trip tickets. appliances etc.
anyway. Generic drugs works as well as the branded drugs. PROVIDED that you buy your medicine in respectable pharmacies.
Lets formulate another question.. What if the medicine is for EMERGENCY case or the patient is in critical condition? would you prefer a drug that is generic? or a drug that has been proven for 10 years? 20 years?.. asked your doctor about that? i am 100% sure katong original ang gamiton nya..
Problem is in the Philippines generic drugs are not regulated. Basically anyone can actually claim that they are the same. BFAD has a lousy policy in terms with the registration of generic drugs. Unlike sa states they have this Yellow book that they call which are approved generics which passed the standards.
So taking a generic is the same? think again you might end up paying more.
Btw there are a lot of ways to test if a drug can be considerd equivalent.
1. Bio-equivalence study (which is usually used, but unfortunately BFAD doesnt require this studies)
"The most expensive drug is the drug that does not work"
-Dr. Benjie Go.
let me clarify regarding the requirement of bioequivalence study by BFAD
