ABS-CBN gains visual and graphic edge through HP Workstations

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN Corporation has been enriching the lives of Filipinos all over the world with superior television programming and top-rating shows produced for local and international audiences. Achieving tremendous growth throughout the years, they credit a big part of their success to high-performing computing technology to meet the highly demanding requirements of their technical production department.

Given this, I-POST, ABS-CBN’s post-production division, employed innovations from leading IT company, Hewlett-Packard, to power-up their critical requirements in video editing, visual effects, graphics, 3D design and animation, composing and musical scoring, and sound design.
The HP Z-series Workstations were incorporated in their extensive AVID post-production system provided by Digital Media Inc. to handle the bulk of their production needs.

“With the very demanding workflow of our technical production department, we require ultra reliable IT solutions that can get the job done. Throughout the years, we have been using HP Z-Series Workstations across all our divisions, and we have been depending on these technologies to perform our mission-critical tasks,” says Edwin Mendoza, Head for Technical Production Facilities Management of ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN employs almost 50 workstations for video editing, 30 workstations for visual effects and 3D design, 20 workstations for scoring and audio lay-in, and another 50 workstations for animation. Seeking to better support their technical needs, ABS-CBN migrated their core post-production systems to an HP-based platform using the next-generation revolutionary HP Z-series workstations.

“Considering the time-critical nature of our processes, IT hardware is essential in being able to successfully perform editing tasks by the time the shows air on television. And since we’ve encountered servicing issues with our past technology providers, we chose HP Workstation solutions with the advice of our IT teams. So far, HP has shown an outstanding track record and we’ve been enjoying exceptional reliability with the HP Z-series Workstations,” he explains.

Combining bold design, best-in-class engineering, robust tools and visual collaboration solutions, the HP Z-series workstations like the HP Z800 and the HP Z400 Workstations allow ABS-CBN’s I-POST department to leverage on superior performance and reliability that give them the strategic edge. Visual effects and animation-intensive shows like Kokey and other top-rated programs have been created and produced using HP Z-series workstations.

My Princess (Korean Drama)





Plot

Lee-Sul (Kim Tae-Hee) is a woman who enters college later than other girls. Like her peers, they dream of one day becoming a princess, but for Lee-Sul she actually becomes a real life princess ...
Hae-Young (Song Seung-Heon) is a 31-year-old diplomat. He is the sole successor of the Daehan Jonghap Group (the largest conglomerate in Korea). Hae-Young is also handsome and graduated from an Ivy League school. Agreeing to his grandfather`s creed, Park Hae-Young decides to give up his rights to the company and all of his assets. This is all for a young woman named Lee-Sul.
Lee-Sul is a 25-year-old college student, majoring in Art History. She doesn't think about the secrets surrounding her birth or her stepsister who teased her behind her back. Lee-Sul keeps a shabby appearance and works several part time jobs on top of her college career. She also has a crush on her professor Nam Jung-Woo (Ryu Su-Yeong). One day, Lee-Sul becomes a princess overnight. In order to make her a princess, the President of the Daehan Jonghap Group offers all of his assets. 50,000,000 people stamp their approvals for her and royal families from all over the world sends congratulatory telegrams. Lee-Sul accepts the role of Princess, but she is now locked up in her palace and forced to study from dawn to late at night. Even worse, Park Hae-Young is her only instructor and he is snooty.
Yoon-Joo (Park Ye-Jin) is a 30-year-old woman, who works as the director of Hae-Young Museum. Her father is the secretary for the President of the Daehan Jong Group. Yoon-Joo hopes to marry Park Hae-Young one day to gain control over the company. Her plans come to a halt when the Princess suddenly appears. For the Princess, the President of the Daehan Jonghap Group returns all of his property to the community. Even Hae-Youngs begins to have favorable feelings for Lee-Sul. Yoon-Joo can't forgive Lee-Sul for what she has caused. Yoon-Jo then makes a plan and if it succeeds Korea will lose their imperial family.
Jung-Woo (Ryu Su-Yeong) is a professor, archeologist and holds a PH.D in the Arts. He is also popular among the female students. Jung-Woo grew up in a poor family. Even now with his high status, his financial situation isn't so good. Because of this, Jung-Woo hasn't proposed to his girlfriend Yoon-Joo. One day, something strange happens. Jung-Woo's student Lee-Sul (who always submits papers late, but works hard at excavation sites) turns out to be a princess. Lee-Sul then asks Jung-Woo to become an advisor for the "Redemption Committee of Imperial Family Cultural Assets".

'Mula Sa Puso' remake set this year




KAPAMILYA stars JM De Guzman, Lauren Young, and Enrique Gil will topbill the remake of the 90s hit drama series "Mula Sa Puso."


The three will reprise the roles of Gabriel (JM), Via (Lauren) and Michael (Enrique) in the original version which aired on ABS-CBN in 1997.

ABS-CBN has bought the rights of the popular telenovela which opriginally starred the Mexican superstar Thalia.

The love team of EnRich became popular with the remake of Katorse, it went on to the next level in Tanging Yaman and Magkaribal was their last project together.

Zanjoe Marudo topbills the 15th installment of Precious Hearts Romances Series titled “Hiyas.” Zanjoe will play the role of “Silang”, a man searching for a precious gem but instead finds his true love. For his character in “Hiyas”, Zanjoe sports a tribal look with matching ethnic tatoos on his back. Just like Aljur Abrenica in Machete , he has scenes where he is half-naked in “Hiyas.” As Aljur got rid of the long hair look in Machete , Zanjoe, on the other hand will don it in Hiyas . But will Zanjoe wear loin cloth or “bahag”, too? Also starring in PHR “Hiyas” is young actress/host Megan Young as Zanjoes leading lady.
