We're all probably aware of what happened in Japan a few days ago. Even though the huge quakes and tsunami have subsided (are there anymore aftershocks?), there's still the problem of their Nuclear plants and the damages this disaster has caused.

While others might think that previous disasters shouldn't be forgotten (Hurricane Katrina and Pearl Harbor trending? Seriously?) and that fans are overreacting with their worries for Japan, i believe that no one deserves to be in pain and to be unaware of their loved ones' safety, whether you have a relative or a friend or you're simply a fan. It's sad how some people think it's ok for the current generations to be in pain because of what a few people of a previous generation did. Nobody deserves anything like this disaster, even maybe these idiots. The world doesn't need to stop, yes, but we can be sensitive about it and care.

There's probably a thread here already that is about donations and contributions (or you can read this). This thread will be about Seiyuu, Mangaka, Music Artists and other people who, as enthusiasts of different fandoms, we care.

It might be selfish and materialistic on my part, but honestly (God forgive me), the first thing that I imagined when I first heard of the earthquake in Japan was the devastating scene of broken Figmas under a pile of volumes of Anime DVDs and Manga, crushed under heavy bookshelves.

Then I learned that it was an 8.9 earthquake followed by a seven meter tsunami…. I was like HO*Y S*IT! TH*T’S JUST FU**ED UP!

Considering how big this tragedy is, there is always the possibility of someone from the anime industry is affected.

I have long checked the pages of the artists that I am following. Thankfully, almost all of them have updated their pages. I still have to check some of the less popular artists, hopefully they are alright. It’s good that the community has been quickly active in checking the status of these artists, popular or not. Thank you for the links BTW.

And yes, there are *****s who connect this to Pearl Harbor incident, referring to this tragedy as karma. Everytime I encounter these *****s, all I can say is: Seriously? Are they even human to say that?

Before they make such inhumane comments, here are some facts that they shouldn’t be forgetting: Pearl Harbor, which the Japanese attacked, was a military base; Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which the US bombed, was a city filled with civilians. Sorry for the OT rant. These people just piss me off.

Anyway, my prayers go to Japan. Not only for those who are in the anime industry, but for everyone who is affected.
