Default IE, Firefox, Opera, etc. Questions....

I've got a problem regarding the above mentioned softwares, there are times when it cant open any sites at all and instead display an error message about not being connected to the net... When in fact I am even chatting with YM. Any Ideas? Could this have sumthing to do with my connection settings?

I'm running a Legit XP Pro on a Dell Laptop with these specs:
    - 256mb DIMM
    - 64mb Onboard Video
    - Celeron M 1.2Ghz Proc.
    - Globe Broadband 756kbps

The problem had just started after I formatted and re-installed everything for a fresh new start.

Do you get a 'server not found' message or something similar? When you refresh do you get the page? I've had problems with PLDT connections doing this, their DNS servers must be messed up.

Your specs do not matter when it comes to absence of connectivity. You could try the following suggestions below:

    - Call Globe and ask for their primary and secondary DNS IPs and hard code it in your NIC (that's if their tech support reps know their own DNS IPs).

    - Check your browsers for any existing proxies.

    - Clear your browsers' cache and cookies.

    - Disable your anti-virus / firewall for the meantime.

If all else fails, as per chronnus, must be a messed up DNS on their end.

Hmm I see, thanks for the replies, I guess the prob would be with the ISP, same prob with chronnus. Just to be sure, I'll check on that suggestion by GlassMoon.
