if the government is open minded enough, they would have lifted this ban 2 years ago. It would have been a viable options for our fellow ofws who are coming home from libya and egypt.

lost of opportunity again for our people.

dapat i open ni nila as option sa mga namauli nga ofws nato gikan sa libya kay pare-pareho man ug job requirements. Iraq is in need of health workers and skillled workers in construction also. Dako na kaayo ni nga tabang ai, at t the same time dili nag kaayo dako ug gastuanan ang gobyerno nato sa financial assistance nila until maka trabaho sila.

naa pud mga OFW's sa Libya who chose to stay there instead sa pagpauli. that is because malipay tuod sila na safe sila pero pwerte sang guula kay wana may trabaho. in ana ka lisud isulod ug trabaho dri sa pinas mao nga mo langyaw gyud ang pilipino para maka kaon maski ika 3 sa usa ka adlaw. nya karon ga tipun0ug naman sad ang mga OFW's from Libya . some of them are not going back and some are. mao nga mas nanginahanglan ta karong panahuna ug mga trabaho.

    Hi guys,

I just want to share something that I’ve read. This was written by a fellow Filipino who was stationed in Iraq. Na touch lang ko sa iyang gi suwat.

"To The highest echelons of the Philippine Government, I ask you please relook the enforced ban of the Philippine workers here in Iraq. This is my third time to this country and each time I have inter-acted with my fellow Filipinos who I have seen struggle over and over through the hard times and celebrate in good cheer during the triumphant times. I have spoken to many who have done so well and many who continue to strive to get to that level of comfort not only for themselves but for their families back home in the Philippines. I know it is hard and I know how hard it is in the Philippines as I too am also supporting family there as well.

The Filipino workers here are in safe conditions and relatively have the best of both worlds being here in Iraq on US bases, they have the opportunity here to make their lives better and give their children and their families what they never had before. So much money is brought into the Philippine economy by the workers here in Iraq, each time during my hours here I could see how hard our people work and then send money home right after pay day only to ensure that their loved ones are taken care of. This is the opportunity known to us as “The American Dream” but only in the Philippines. Why deprive our people of this dream?

I know with the drawdown, most of the Filipinos must be prepared to leave this country when all is said and done, but why give the policy makers here the leverage to take it out on the Filipinos now; with the BAN still in place, of course we will be the first ones of the work force to go. Think of how many Filipinos will suffer with poverty, famish and hunger, poor living qualities, and no livelihood whatsoever. Professionals here are working for what they are worth and what they have studied for, and yes it is their choice to come here and make the sacrifices away from their families and loved ones.

For some who have been here so long, have been able to save money, start businesses, and have solidified their livelihood not only for themselves but for the future of their families. Iraq started off as a war zone and yes some may say it still is, however, nothing in life is easy. These people are willing to make the sacrifices in order to succeed in life, but like everything in life, there are roadblocks and in this scenario, it is the BAN on Pinoy workers here in Iraq being the major Roadblock. By lifting the BAN, Pinoy workers will be allowed to finish their contracts and finish out on their accord, and not be rushed to their work, based on some policy emplaced by their own government.

Summarizing this write up, I truly hope the Philippine government reconsiders their policy and decides to LIFT THE BAN and allows our Filipino workers to work and provide for their families back in the Philippines, and as for those who are prepared to leave, allow them to make that choice. If the Philippines is a true democracy, then prove it and allow its people to make the choice to either stay or go home.

This was written by a concerned Filipino-American on 22 July 2010 here in Baghdad, Iraq who sees the struggle of his fellow Filipinos here in Iraq to only make life better for themselves and their families in the Philippines.

and to quote this news article:

There are now some 50 embassies in Baghdad and not all of them are located in the Green Zone, an indication of the better security situation there, Al-Batti said. He was referring to the well-guarded area that houses the U.S. Embassy, Iraqi government offices and the parliament" --- for short di man diay na ing ana ka gubot....naa lang gyud paranoid.
