Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos claimed last week that there were more recorded cases of human rights violation during Cory Aquino's time as President compared to Ferdinand Marcos' over 20-year term, reports ABS-CBN News.
The former First Lady cited the 1987 Mendiola Massacre where 13 people died and over 70 were injured during Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas' rally for "genuine land reform."
Showing a document used in US courts, Marcos said, "We have no human rights violations. We have no case."
In a text message sent to ABS-CBN News, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said, "She must be kidding! Is this another attempt at revisionism?"
