I'ved read that Powerbuilder is an application and not a programming language

I've also read that it's an "application" development software
and still consider as programming language cause it still uses code. :mrgreen:

im not posting powerbuilder is a general programming language, read my post carefully,

anyway f u not a programmer u cannot build an database application like, accounting, pos, payroll, freight etc.

the author of this thread is look for developent tool to develop Sales and Inventory System in winexpee environment

As of July 2006, the latest release of PowerBuilder is version 10.5. It includes DataWindow.NET, which is a .NET-enabled version of PB's famous DataWindow control. PowerBuilder 11.0 is expected in the first quarter of 2007, and is planned to include ASP.NET 2.0 Web Forms application capability.[1]

Usage
PowerBuilder is used primarily for building business applications. Powerbuilder and the applications built with it are used exclusively on computers running Microsoft Windows.

PowerBuilder is used commonly by companies in the financial sector, in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. It is also used by many government agencies. PowerBuilder works well for developing very large applications, with enterprise-level databases and hundreds of windows, and hundreds or thousands of users. Although PowerBuilder's day as a leading development tool has passed, it remains in use at hundreds of organizations around the world.

I see, so Powerbuilder is also a programming language but in higher level since it is faster to develop an application with it, someone told me in the place I'm working that Delphi is more powerful than PB, Delphi is also fast to develop and a very mature programming language. I wonder how true is this? I don't program either of the two since I'm in a mix environment with Linux and Windows so I have to use Java.

the thread starter focuses his concern on deploying an application in winXP environment, so i suggest use microsoft languages, VB/VB.net, C# but VB alone will do depending on ur level of programming i have already deployed some apps in winXp using VB6 lang, its an inventory program though its not thouroughly done features only OUT and no IN generates stock card and the likes...

in terms of simplicity of code, C# jud ko... C# is even simpler to code than VB 6.0. it may even be at par with VB.Net in terms of OOP capabilities. for those who have come from the java background, you'll truly love C#... the best talaga...

Guys all of your suggestions are good and it has its all pros and cons .. depende kung asa ka well knowlegeable .. so for me ill just add my suggestion also .. im inclined in using Oracle Forms and Reports and Oracle DB, so for me these tools are also well suited for your needs ..

i agree. try vb6 and Oracle it all depends on how code. ang advantage lang sa Forms kay pwede ma web-base. but sa speed proven and rested namo ang VB6. just taste our vb6 and i'm sure it never stops to amaze you. diskarte lang na sa developer bro ug gi unsa niya pagsugo ang machine pag execute sa code. hehehe!
