Default Re: Bongbong: Marcos would have turned PHL into ‘another Singapore’

My simple take on leadership and implementation of Law

Marcos did a bit of good during his time especially with infrastructure , the surrounding of friends, the wife, problems would be a big discussion (and it is a never ending debate). A good leader never forgets he or she is a mere Servant to the people, but one should be a strong leader. We need a good , firm leader.

The way I see it , part of the problem in this country is Culture, hesitation of Change, old norms and traditions from different foreign cultures. We are so used to getting off easy and everyone thinks he/she is correct. A good example when you go on a trip, why is everyone in a rush to go in the plane or leave the plane, does everyone have an important function to attend? Or do we just want to be first in line?

I believe the Philippines need a strong dictator similar to Singapore. Why? well here's a simple question to all... Why are Filipinos abroad model citizens , Why do we follow rules and law? The Answer, law is implemented. A cop sees a speeding vehicle , pull over , and gives a ticket. You can't reason, explain like most of us do here - Well off course the exception is say your wife is having a baby, they will even escort you to the hospital. But folks you see my point?

In addition, people need to have faith in country, government, and themselves. We have lost our belief in the system. You talk to the blue collar class, they do not care what is happening around them, most especially in government. It's every man for himself. One has to restore faith that we can be better than what we are.

Filipinos need to be guided for now. A strong hand , that is a true public servant , that will implement and reason with politics. But most politicians go into it very idealistic and end up like the old. It's like a movie, until the chosen one comes ... well... do we wait or start change now.

nagahaman lang jud xa sa Power niya... we would have bloomed into a very competitive modern country..
    Economy, Technological, Agricultural wise...
You cant deny he did primarily save the Philippines from a very long Economic Slump when he came to Office...
He kick started the modernization of our country, never ignored the importance of our Agricultural Wealth.
    But then again.....
Well.. I guess that's what the Quote "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. means...
and that was exactly what happened to him, he got too clingy with that stupid chair....
The apparent "economic boom" at the first 4 years of Marcos was due to a heavy "borrowing" from the World Banks or so at that time ... towards the end of his first term, the peso slided to 6pesos to a dollar .. that was a big loss to our economy. Why? because the money went to their pockets and not to the development of infrastructure in the philippines .. there was an increase of urban squatters .. because probinsyanos went to Manila as jobs are only available there .. leaving their farms. It was also the beginning of the Marcos government's paranoid that all oppositions are communists ... Martial Law never happened by CHANCE .. it was a well planned strategy to remain in power and hide the corruptions of that regime... I was in the elementary then but ... thanks to the subscriptions to Philippine Free Press and others, I began to look at the whole reality very much different from the regime's propaganda .. Marcos was not our savior from the economic slump then .. He was the primary cause! And the apparent modernization of our society was made to appease the foreign powers .. so that more "borrowed" dollars can flow in ... the result we know now: wala pa mangatawo ang mga next generations, duna na sila utang.

During our college years, we had a joke regarding our Histroy Books written by Zaide: That the books were written with ARMALITE pointed on the author .. so that he will write good things about the regime, the Martial Law .. and most specially the exploits of "army Lieutenant" Marcos .. as a hero in one of those battles! Too bad all those involved in that apparent ambush headed by the young Marcos were all dead and they could not tell their stories .. hehe .. call it coincidence .. or a genius maneuver to make a story!

Comparisons between Lee Kuan Yew and Marcos are laughable at best. Lee actually had a vision, the humility and the will to turn Singapore into the country that it is today. Singapore's laws are strict, but ultimately fair when given thought.

Marcos on the other hand, ruled with an iron fist because he was afraid to let go of power. He and Imelda had an obsession with opulence. AN OBSESSION. Those of you too young to remember won't know about how it was then. The way some of us here ridicule our leaders today would've been enough reason to be nabbed, stuffed in some barrel and thrown somewhere in the boonies.

So please, stop with the comparisons. Lee Kuan Yew is 10 times the man Marcos was.
