The revolution is for the freedom..... because marcos seems to rule phils like a king.... like controlling the press. lots of hidden agenda.... It was never about the economy... because back then we don't really have huge economic problem...

just liberation issues... because marcos doesn't want the filipino people to scrutinize his work. it got worst when he declared martial law...

Of course people are too scared to go to the police.... coz before the police itself ruled the streets.... if they pickup a SUSPECT they torture them to say yes to the crime they're suspected... and case closed.... there's nothing to report about... LOL

People tend to confuse the martial law as an iron fist to punish anyone who opposed Marcos.

It was about the insurgency in the country.

If all of FM's plans succeeded and if Imelda stopped whoring around, we wouldn't have any CPP-NPA right now. No rebels extorting money from us.

Now not only we have a crap economy, but we have rebels outside our castles waiting which could have been eradicated if we only allowed FM to do what needs to be done.

I may not be born in the 70s-80s, but on Marcos' first term, he was really good. How do you guys expect Marcos to suddenly have a shift in temper that time? Gi sapi-an siya?

yes of course... because he is beautifying his kingdom.... unfortunately when he was kicked out.... he took our wealth with him.... leaving the next president back to zero.... with lots of debts.

that we still continue to pay up to now....

If this story was true :https://www.istorya.net/forums/politi...een-saved.html

probably we would be like singapore or better by now...

I'm amazed that while people in the Middle East are dying on the streets trying to free themselves from tyranny some here are reminiscing about our dictator as if he were some sort of hero, he was not. In fact he is commonly acknowledged as being the second most corrupt ruler in recent history.

To claim that if he were still in power that the Philippines would be just like Singapore is fantasy and the comparison demeans Lee Kuan Yew's very real (as opposed to speculated) accomplishments as a a fair and progressive leader who created an affluent and corruption-free society without unduly abusing the freedoms of it's citizens.

If you cut your finger you don't bandage your entire body and martial law was for Marcus an excuse to tighten his grip over the entire population. Why did he want this level of control? Perhaps in his eyes were were all the enemy. One thing's for sure... mysterious Swiss bank accounts loaded with unexplainable wealth cannot be in the public interest.
