Uso naman sa US ang mga APRNs (advanced practice registered nurse). From what I read in nurses' forums, ma qualify daw ug H1B visa ang mga APRNs, as compared to just regular RNs. Uso na dinhi ning mga nurse practitioners. Sa ako lang family doctor, everytime moadto ko sa office niya, it's the nurse practitioner who sees me, examines me and writes a prescription for me.

Also, if you guys can afford it, why don't you take up Medicine? Medical doctors can qualify for the H1B since essentially the MD degree is a graduate degree. You'll have a better chance of having a hospital sponsor you for a residency. There is also a shortage of primary care physicians in the US. Pangitaon kaayo ang mga family doctors dire. Sa ako lang personal experience, when I get sick and go to the doctor, it's either the physician's assistant or the nurse practitioner who sees me kay dili na kaya sa doctor ang workload. Most of the doctors here in the US choose to specialize coz they earn more money that way, kumpara kung family doctor or general practitioner lang sila. But still, GPs here in the US make about 150k a year. Makabuhi na na'g pamilya oi.

fact gyud ni sa US ug apil ang NPs ani pod...but sa pagka medicine ninyo diha sa pinas, u have to undergo a set of MLE's to practice medicine here sa US. kung kaya bulsa and utok ky nganong dili...BUT lengthy lang pod ni na process ky once pasar sa MLE na 3 stages man guro na ky ngita ka ug kinsa hospital sponsor nimo sa internship and u will have ur residency na back to square 1.

my cousin is an NP karon lang bag-o from Johns Hopkins. she took it for 2yrs kapin ky nahunong sya tungod sa workload niya as fulltime ER nurse of the same institution for 10yrs na. i saw how hard the process was basta working ka pero kung pure student ka lang, pwede ma agwanta! she barely sleeps tungod sa tun-anan mura ug ga doctor. even until now sige pa tuon for licensure sa pagka NP.

sad reality: nurses spent a whole lot of money to finish schooling but only a few made it as staff nurses. others are call center agents and esl instructors. while those who are less fortunate are jobless..
