obviously it will change due to the program your were installing is intended to change the theme of the windows. and guess that program is buggy or there was an erroneous installation, many possibilities why it went that way....

try going to the Control Panel and click on display... find the tab that would restore your icons. im hoping that you would find it. happy searching!
