this really saddens me...

first of all, cebuano bands should get the recognition of their music. we all agree with this right

we all know starting out a band is such a great undertaking. dili lalim mag tokod ug banda, magapalit ug instruments. thats why when the bands have gigs, they should also be given their share for the enjoyment they endowed upon us....

a lot of gig venues already sprouted here in cebu and the good thing is they are accomodating cebuano bands regardless of any genre. the best part was the bands were given TFs for their performance. it was a relly good thought to let cebu bands play in this venue as well as getting a fair amount for their hardwork. the venue owner was very supportive of the bands. this ought to be the standard treatment of the bands whenever they play in a venue and i salute the owner for this endeavor. but what saddens me most is that there are persons who organize gigs for the different bands here in cebu. the worst part is they declared that "ok lang ang mga banda nga dili ma bayran basta maka tukar lng cla" this made an impression from the owner not to fund their gig whenever they are the ones who organizing it.

woah, woah, woah! this is not good. imbis naa na unta suporta ang mga banda, gi balik man hinuon ang karaan setting nga pwede ra dina bayran ang mga banda kung manukar. tsk tsk tsk. sa kadtng organizer, ma luoy unta mu sa mga banda oi. tinulo.an ug singut na ilang pag perform. give them what they deserve.

and to all those bands whether new or old, watch out for these people. ur music is ur treasure. dont waste ur time on them. PLEASE!!! ay mo kabalaka kung di mo katukar sa ila gig. praktis lng jd ghapn mu. u guys really deserve a much better deal.

@ animal - somehow, basin naka igo pd ka. hehehehe pero IM NOT blaming a venue jd. the one im talking about is there's this one "organizer" nga ni happen ug use sa venue pero instead nindt ang offer sa venue, they (organizer) manipulated the rules of how a band should be treated. if u know this issue, i guess u know who the pips are who are talking about this fuss. hehehehe hehehehe

ive been following this thread and read a lot of comments. if we talk about underground music scenes, can we please not state about TF's and everything else that includes money? we all know underground scenes are born out of sweat and blood and not by money.

in my case, bands who are already "very experienced" should get the luxury of getting paid especially if the gig is sponsored. no question about those bands playing for charity concerts or underground movements and also for those bands who are just starting out. give sweat mga newbies. work hard for it. i know u also have the inkling that somehow being in a band sometimes get "shares" from the gigs u are playing. if not, then try to work harder. enough of those pride thoughts of " ahhh, we dont need money, we play for the people". no, its not about that. crisis bya ta karn. hehehe

this is about the good treatment of what a band should recieve. basin nagtuo mo ang mga musikero kwartahan. well, for some pero sa uban, dili intawn. so somehow, gaining something out of ur talent must somehow be praised.

i.compare lng nako ang scene sa manila ug cebu ha coz ive been there too......

manila bands (even sa mga underground) kay mabuhi jd cla mga boys and girls. kibaw mo nganu? kay isig suportaay cla tanan. murg food chain cla didto. bands practice for a gig, organizers settle the site and monetary concerns with the venue owners, (and this is the best part) the audience REALLY pays for the entrance and not gonna ask for some free shit!!! support kaau ang mga taw didto. people tend to buy tickets just to listen to the band. they pay entrance fees ranging from 150 and up. they buy drinks and food. bands playing good music. the organizers giving out a smooth sked. in this way, i observed EVERYONE WAS HAPPY!!!! EVERYONE EARNS IN ANY WAY!!!! BANDS GET PAID, VENUE OWNERS PROFIT FROM SALES, ORGANIZERS EARN SOME TOO, AS WELL AS THE PEOPLE GOT TO HEAR GOOD MUSIC!!! after a certain band has finished their set, u can really see the crowd lining up for CDs and other merchandise displayed outside the venue. MAO NI SAKTO UNTA!!!! ang kasagaran dri sa ato kay ganahan man mag pa FREE!!!!! ultimo recorded songs sa mga banda i.burn pa jd. tabla ra nag pirate. bisan 50 pesos inuton pa jd. mu reklamo pa gihapon nga mahal ang cds, tshirts (band merchandise), ug entrance fees sa gigs. unya kung maka sulod na, manaway pa jd. mao ni mentality sa kasagaran sa mga cebuano in my point of view. even though 100 % blue blooded cebuano ko, i hate this mentality coz it brings down the craftmanship and honor of how people should think about the cebuano musician.

if they (manila) can do this, i think we (cebuanos) can do it too. im not saying we copycat from them but its not about who did this first and who does that but its about kicking up the music scene of a certain place be it made from money concerns or just for plain fun of introducing a band's music.

THAT you can't change nemore. you can never change other peoples ways. But for us as long as we know what were doing is good and it is right we just move on and do our part. You just have to show people what is the right thing to do. Don't just judge them directly. Show them the ropes if you want to help and make a difference.. then act on it. If people see and realize that what you are doing is good then people will follow and people will soon realize the importance of it. I know what you mean bout comparing Manila form Cebu scene. I've been there and I've seen it all. But did I ever say anything bad about it? No Coz lahi ra man jud didto gud. It's hard to explain nienee but I know you really have a good point there. Dugay na ko kabantay ana na butanga. But you know what gipasagdan ra na nako coz sooner or later makarealize ra na ang mga tao ana. At first cguro ok magpafree ug people makasud then the next they shud also learn to save up for it. Coz for us malugi jud mi kung cge lang mi pasud ug ppl. Arangan man sad ang mga taw didto sa Manila nienee if u comparte the people here. DI na malalis coz I know alot of ppl who really want to support but don't have the money to get in. Pugson jud di ay? i think you are wrong...we can change...thats upt o you and the bands if they want a change...if you want a radical change in the music scene, do your part...support your band and dont just post stupid nonsense on istoray...youre a coward and dont ever hide here...this issue cannot be stopped...if for some reason a there's someone here who got hurt with all the comments, REREAD them over and over again to see how your bands feel...how your audiences feel...how we feel as cyber-junkies...youre doing an awful lot of harm than good...how can you stop a moving electric fanput youre hand between the teeth...
