Suggestion: Anime Convention?

ToyCon Extra Activities Ideas

1. Make your own character* drawing contest

* Not characters from DC, Marvel, or any other company which
owns them

* Rationale: Although it is highly unlikely that these companies
would notice us, the ToyCon would be covered by the press
and it is possible that they would not approve of seeing their
content drawn incorrectly in an award event.

- Submit 3 days before the show

- Not on-the-spot anymore because there won't be enough space
for it

- No age category (as there are kids who can draw better than
teens or adults)

- Prizes: Will solicit from toy exhibitors (these could be either
unsold toys or toy shop gift checks)

2. Consketch

- Got commitment from following people:
- mordruinn
- vemp
- dichromatic_beagle
- zerk
- weebong (not sure as he might be involved with the Cosplay)

- Okay to draw characters from comics, movies and TV since it will
be given to people for their personal use

- They'll bring sample work so people would know what drawing
style each one has

- Charge P 10 (pencil sketches)
- wats suggested that we keep a percentage to pay for
the lead (assuming we'll use clutch pencils), bond paper and
our effort. The rest goes to Istorya's charity fund as agreed.

- Charge more for inked or colored sketches.

3. Drawing tutorial for kids age 12 below

- c/o SLICK!

- For items 2 and 3, we just need a long table not a booth

4. CosPlay

- Open theme

- No need for pre-registration. Just register at the registration
booth if joining the CosPlay contest. Others may just show off
but not necessarily join (my assumption) and mime their fave
character.

5. Anime Film Showing

- We have to ask permission from MTRCB first as we just can't show
any film in public

- The film has to be original (not pirated)

- Logistical concern: Audio-visual equipment

6. Video/PC game contest

- wats will ask his contacts at video/PC game shops if they could
join

- if you know who's who to talk to in any legit video/PC game
shop, let wats know about him or her

7. Poster

- wats want a creative, thought provoking, emotional one
- last year, it showed a husband standing over his wife and between
them a broken robot with the caption, "If you touch it again..."
- controversial: Yes, got the desired attention: Yes

- So if you've got an idea of the imagery for this years Toyphillia
(sakto spelling wats), post it and I'll ask my artist friends to
draw it after we decide on the top 3 imagery we'll use in the poster.

- A lot of people here are gifted with Photoshop skills so there's
no problem with layouts and clean ups

- arisarnado will help with poster making

8. Photography Contest

- Theme: Toy Appreciation

- wats will contact Cebu camera Club about this

- I assume toy collectors would arrange their toys and collaborate
with the photogs?

@all: Hilom na lagi diri. Kinsa makatabang sa pag organize sa Cosplay, Anime Film Showing, ug uban pa related to anime/manga? We need to inform people early especially sa Cosplay para makapatahi na sila costume nila.

My Sister helped organized a band it is called Akatsuki 5 or 7 (depending on the final number of member).
I think they could play 5 to 7 songs, for the program...

So I will just ask how they want to be compensated for their efforts.

i'll try to create a poster for use for the convention i'll post it later as soon as i dig myself out of the paperworks

Possible for the convention, I can help put up the physical arrangement of the place which includes the putting up of decoration or poster, and contact of the band.
