Follow-up is good, to build relationship to clients. Then they can refer you to other clients. But one project at a time.
and better to start new projects!

Well better have contracts between the developer and the client. and their should be a term of payment between them. like 50% downpayment 30% after 70% completion of work and the last 20% when the site is done. I guess that would be great.
Yeah ur right! I guess that should be the case. Dapat unta there is a organization for this na mo handle para ma regulate then naa grievance commitee where clients can go and complain.

i think sometimes it is not the developers fault na a project will be abandoned, naa sad na problem sometimes sa client side. Like sige sila ug padugang ug mga features na wala man unta sa contract. Sometimes clients tend to think na sayon ra buhaton but for us developers it would take much of our time. Sometimes dugay kaayo morelease ug funds unya daghan na kaayo ug reklamo even if the project is still baking it dissappoints us and intimidates us developers much worst the time and money spent sa developer daghan na kaayo wala pa gyud mo down ang client ngeek unya sige ka pabalik balikon sa site kay daghan kaayo ug ipabuhat without considering the developers side sa hago. So sometimes developers tends to abandon the project and look for something worthwhile. My opinion only.
@balanar2006:
Very true. This is a common dilemna of projects besides web designing. Clients tend to look at web development as easy as preparing a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation. No, sir, this is not your secretary's usual drag-and-drop, click-here-click-there work.
The best solution I have found to avoid the problem is to itemize every aspect of the design and put a price in each. For every function, every page template, every script module, there should be a price set. After every accomplishment, you must bill the client and proceed at the next project phase after every payment. You must be diligent enough to do the paperworks: bills and receipts.
This is important: always bill the client. A bill will always keep track the client of your progress and shows that you really mean business and not doing some hobby work because you love it. This will also hold him back from requesting any additional features or changes, as he knows it will mean shelling out more cash from his pocket. Hehe.
yes so true balanar2006...
billing the client is always a good way to keep them clients from abusing the so called "pakapin" mentality...
