unlike private individuals, we have a choice whether to go corporate, be an entrepreneur or work for the government. the military or PMAers on the other hand, have no choice where or how to work. they are always under a politician, so they are at a higher risk to be corrupted compared to other careers.

Probably the most subtle way of putting it would be, he was driven by the system to corruption rather than sucked by the system to corruption.
Reyes had a choice.. he could have joined the Magdalo group and be arrested and imprisoned with Trillanes, Lim and all those Military officers who blew the whistle on the corruption in the AFP.

Reyes rose from the ranks... he would have been a junior officer at one point or another and would be aware of the anomalies sa AFP. Si General Danny Lim man lagi.. bisag General na, ni speak out man ghapon against the corruption in the AFP....

Depende ra gyud na' sa prinsipyo sa tao... from what you're saying maka resist ra ang tao if thousands pero dili na maka resist kung millions na ang gi istoryahan. In short, that person's concept of right and wrong has a price... You always go back to the question of whether that person has a deep moral foundation.

Ang kanang issue sad nga "go with the flow". It is your duty and responsibility as a Christian and a graduate of the PMA to right the wrongs and live a life of honesty and honor.

Reyes chose the easy path in "going with the flow" and benefited from it financially.

exactly who here defending Angie beh? Angie is just a small fish in a pond of corruption. if senators like Jinggoy and Trillanes had not been selective on their judgment and this big group of corrupt people arent pressuring him, would you think Angie would commit suicide?

50M handed to him, exactly how many people will say no to that. this is a passive form of corruption who knows how long this tradition had been occurring maybe way-back the marcos era.

Even so the coup failed but still Garcia was tried and convicted.

    yes indeed.
because any honorable achievements in life wont protect you from any temptations and becoming the SECRETARY, Miriam Defensor questioned him why he doesnt know about the 50M and was questioned again because the issue included all his liabilities (lots, houses/mansion, cars and his wife traveling to anywhere).

The gunshot didnt killed him... GUILT DID.

    absolutely agree on emow!

he is not worthy of any honors anymore be it the firing of rifles or whatever military funeral rites ... he is guilty no further questions about that well...technically not yet legislative dept maybe investigating on allegedly afp corruptions but i know enough bribes will surely get this case to closure :P

and it seems a retired bishop is giving reyes suicide case a consideration to church funeral rites which i learned from last night news, which disgusted me... well its subject for approval though, i hope he won't be given such, not worth it!

to quote “Canon 1184 states, that Church funeral rites are to be denied to ‘notorious apostates, heretics and schismatics’ unless they showed some signs of repentance before death,"

...and i doubt if repentance ever did occur to him LOL

Trillanes bares talks with Reyes camp on corruption

    abs-cbnNEWS.com Posted at 02/10/2011 1:05 AM | Updated as of 02/10/2011 9:17 AM

MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV on Wednesday confirmed having received a letter from former Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes regarding corruption issues in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
An unidentified emissary close to Reyes handed the letter to Trillanes last January 18.
Reyes’ letter was short, asking Trillanes to identify the supposedly powerful person allegedly fronting for former Armed Forces comptroller Carlos Garcia, who has been accused with plundering military coffers.
However, more telling was Reyes’ messages to Trillanes, as relayed by the emissary.
“The emissary told me that the late General Reyes told him that he admits there were transactions coming from upstairs… but he was firm in saying he did not take any money from those transactions facilitated by General Garcia,” the senator said.
At the time of the meeting, all eyes were on the Garcia plunder case and plea bargain agreement he has with the Ombudsman.
Former Armed Forces budget officer George Rabusa had yet to come out and link Reyes to the fund anomalies.
Through the emissary, Reyes asked Trillanes to clear his name with regard to Garcia's case, hinting there was someone else more powerful behind the former comptroller.
Trillanes, however, imposed a condition on his former military superior.
“I told him if that's the case, why don't you spill the beans on these people,” he said.
Trillanes said the emissary doubted that Reyes would blow the whistle on the supposed powerful personality behind Garcia.
The lawmaker admitted that he was not referring to Reyes when he first talked about Garcia's so-called principal.
He said Reyes could not have escaped accountability because as then defense secretary, Reyes reportedly allowed Garcia's alleged illegal transactions to take place.
    A loving husband, father, grandfather
Reyes’ family, meanwhile, is in deep grief over the death of the former AFP chief of staff.
At the Columbary Ascension chapels on Araneta Ave., Quezon City, where the wake is being held, the former general’s children spoke for the first time about the death of their father.
They read a statement they issued to media on Tuesday night.
They said Reyes was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
“He is the nemesis of kidnappers, drug dealers, smugglers, and terrorists but is helpless as his granddaughter puts lipstick on him. He was a four star general, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the conqueror of Camp Abubakr, but not once has he thought twice about kissing his wife and sons in public,” the statement said.
“To us, his children, he is and forever will be, our idol. No amount of ridiculous rumors, intrigues, and accusations from the ignorant, the envious, and those who have nothing better to do than to cowardly criticize him, will ever change that.”
The family said Reyes will be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City. – Reports from Lynda Jumilla and Jorge Cariño, ABS-CBN News; ANC

more twist, its like soap opera in politics.

    next plot.

will Trillanes spill the beans ? abangan ang susunod na kabanata
