    Summer is lurking just within the horizon... its about time that some of us look forward and plan for some escapades... am encouraging istoryans to post pictures and write-up for us to learn from fellow travellers about getting there and other details

    The 15th Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (Feb 2011)
    This 4-days of everything that flies event is held at the Clark Airfield in Pampanga. Going to the place from Cebu is easy especially that there are direct flights to Clark from Cebu. The tricky part is your place of stay. The hotels outside Clark would cost you 700-1200/day and the taxi ride from the airport to the red-light district is 300Php. Hotels inside Clark are the highend ones but the budget hotels are located on the red-light district of Clark. You must be at the field as early as 4:30am for you to catch the balloon launch and the Philippine Army flag jump...

    I am encouraging folks to post photos of your trips and also the details that everyone might need for them to get there.... PICTURES and a little WRITE-UP is a must

    Salamat,
    drb

    The Pintados Festival or Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival is annually celebrated on the 29th of June in Tacloban City, Leyte, to honor the Seņor Santo Niņo or Holy Child. The festival's highlights include the Leyte Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals, the 17th Pintados Festival Ritual Dance Presentation, and the Pagrayhak Grand Parade. In the Visayan dialect, "Kasadyaan" means "merriment and jollity." -WikiPilipinas

    Tacloban can be reached by plane, by boat, by a combination of boat and land. If you take the see-land connection it is best achieve via Ormoc by fastcraft then a bus or V-hire towards Tacloban. Waiting for promo flights is best and sometimes would turn up to be more economical. Pre-book your hotels atleast 2-months before the said event.

    [QUOTE=Recon25;7865058]Gibitngil Island, Medellin, Cebu Province

    A magnificent small island that is directly infront of Kawit, Medellin. Can be reached via Kawit by bus from the north bus terminal with a fare of 70Php and a bangka right of about 500-800. This tiny island boasts of a great sandbar and great dive spots. Sadly, the islands settlers are subjected to great pressures from the mayor to vacate. The main reason is that they have intentions to make it unto a resort.

    These are some of the photos I took during my recent visit with batchoyc, hayj, and some IPC members.

    Mambukal Mudpack Festival

    This is a festival of mud. It features the different mud colors of Mount Kanlaon, an semi-active volcano which lurks behind Cebu and in the island of Negros. The Festival is a small one but full of drama and colors. It is held every June which coincides with the start of the rainy season. Murcia is the town next to Bacolod so travel there by jeepney is not of a hassle except in the evening wherein the last trip towards Bacolod is 5pm. Cottages are available in the Mambukal Resort except one must book a room around December if he/she intends to be there during the festival.
