What makes us a newbie is the lack of experience. What makes us newbie is the lack of study from the past winning photos to determine the extent of PP actually allowed.

What makes a winner is to try and try again. Enjoy photography in the process. Mind you, we are contending with not only myriads of full time professional photographers, but experienced Sinulog shooters with more than 20 years experience in the Sinulog. We don't expect to beat them overnight. PP is not the only answer. Maybe, prayer is.

Its not the photogs... its the contest, the SF and their rules...
hatag cla ug rules nya cla ra diay ang dili maka implement ug rules...
May pa PP to the max nalang para wlay lalis...or ZERO PP at all... coz maski cguro ang judges di mka ingon nga sobra nana ka PP or dili... coz hus gonna say its too much or not, its a matter of perspective man gud there is no means of measurement sa PP.... (may tag naay PP-meter) hahahaahahahahaha

Maka ingon ko nindot jud tong grand winner... deserve to niya.. regardless sa rules...

PERO nag sakit jd ko sa 2 ka photos... nga naka daug... dako pa jd nga place...
Ambot lang jd ngano naka daug... blurry? noisy? wlay angle? haller!!!! maski cguro buta maka pangutanan ngano naka daug to nga photos.. hahahahahaha (emphasing on photos and not photogs coz they are great photogs, maybe there are just lousy screeners/judges/organizers)hahahaha

again hantod ra jd ta ani diri sa web... we photogs should make a stand... coz for sure next year i exploit nasad nila ang ka mahal sa atong hobby and we will pay for sure MORE than 750 pesos and service and execution is lousy...

Kodus to the one hu wrote the editorial... medyo rocky lang iyang mga complains/arguments and dali ra kaayo to ma rasonan sa SF... but never the less it was a bold move... i commend you.. +1,000,000

Since Big Hit man ang mga B.P.O companies ron... ila pa lang ipa outsource ang contest... ila ipa handle ug 3rd party event organizers... mas nindot pa cguro ang execution and support to photogs...

    hahahaha

In fairness, there’s only one blurred photo. Call it back focus, if you’re in front. Or front focus, if you’re in the back. The rest are grains. Imagine a 5x7 inches photo blown up to like 20 inches or more. Nonetheless, in the old school, grains are generally accepted. Even appreciated.

For us to win the Sinulog photo contest, we should know the terrain (where and what time to shoot). These experienced Sinulog shooters knew this by heart. They anticipated the sun light position, shadows, crowds, and even come better equipped than us. Because of their experience, they also knew the kind of photo and event that will sell to the judges. You see, except for the few really good and lucky ones who wins contest after only the 1st or 2nd year of participation, we all go through a serious process.
Let’s fight fair and square! Amen.
Correct... Ako before the Sinulog, I always visit this Flickr: Sinulog_Festival's Photostream and study the composition and details of every picture...

and yahoo, I was lucky enough that one of my entries won...

Claimed my prize at Sinulog just this morning.
Nag-ask sila if Istoryan ba daw ko.
Mao diay nag-ask... kay naa diay nag-complain.

Sayang ang opportunity to complain since most of the complaints were half-baked and not really thought through. It can be easily rebutted.
