Mayor Soc’s son faces another frustrated murder complaint

Joavan Fernandez, Talisay City Mayor Socrates “Soc” Fernandez’s adopted son, faces another frustrated murder complaint.

This brings to three the number of criminal charges filed against him in connection with last week’s twin shooting incidents in Barangays Cansojong and Dumlog in Talisay City.

Victim Edmund Ong, 18, who, along with Carlos dela Calzada, 22, were shot and wounded in Dumlog, filed a frustrated murder complaint against Joavan before the Talisay City Prosecutor’s Office last Monday afternoon.

City Prosecutor Marshall Rubia told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday that Ong’s four-page complaint identified Joavan as one of two gunmen who shot the two victims at dawn of Aug. 29.

Ong and dela Calzada were reportedly hanging out at a roadside burger stand when three men alighted from a gray Toyota Revo that parked nearby.
