    Isaiah 45:6-7
"That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

@ silent-kill..... God is not to be understood as the author of moral evil, but rather evil in contrast to the peace...... God is here correcting the eastern philosophy of two eternal Supreme Beings (Good and Evil) constantly at war with each other.....

Evil is simply a lacking of good. God is good, and the things that He created are meant to be good... but with the increased capacity of good a created being possess, it's capability of evil also increases should that creation reject God... obviously inanimate objects such as a rock lacks much capacity to do good, therefore it also lacks much ability to do evil -though a falling rock could knock sense either into ( good)... or out of you (evil) .. but a living creature, one who has received the invaluable gift of life, God calls for an unreserved and active response to do good.... therefore, good could also be defined in creaturely terms as the creature's response to the giver of life that meets with favor in the eyes of the one who gives of the gift of life. Whereas evil could also be defined as an unfavorable response to the giver of the gift of life.

we are talking about capacities of creatures to be able to do either good or evil. if evil then is the abscence of good, measuring a creature's capacities and/or capability to do it is incomprehensible. we simply cannot measure void or the absence of something, or being able to do the absence of something.

simply stated, the postulation that good is the absence of evil, and that measuring a creature's capacity to do evil, cannot exist together. they are inconsistent.

    ---

in this presentation of the inconsistencies, the problem of evil still emerges unscathed.

if evil indeed is the absence of good and that god is all-good, or the ultimate personification of goodness, and that he is present everywhere...

then being 'good', he is 'absent' when evil happens.
or he may be 'present all the time everywhere' but is 'not entirely good' after all.

Default why did God create evil?

God had to allow the possibility of evil for us to have a true choice of whether to worship God or not. If we never had to suffer and experience evil, would we truly know how wonderful heaven is? God did not create evil, but He allowed it. If He hadn’t allowed evil, we would be worshipping Him out of obligation, not by a choice of our own free will.

The best answer I can come up with is this: God didn’t want a race of robots who did not have a free will. God had to allow the possibility of evil for us to have a true choice of whether to worship God or not. If we never had to suffer and experience evil, would we truly know how wonderful heaven is? God did not create evil, but He allowed it. If He hadn’t allowed evil, we would be worshipping Him out of obligation, not by a choice of our own free will.

a test of evil will not warrant anything. god is supposed to be omniscient. he knows your choice even before u do. whether or not he 'allowed' evil to come up, with the above proposition, he would still know who will be saved and who will not.

sounds like a child placing ants in a bowl of water, and sticking his fingers for them to climb into, doesn't it?

Default why did God create evil?

**Evil does not exist, and or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like DARKNESS and COLD -- a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith and or love, that exist just as does LIGHT and HEAT, Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the COLD that comes when there is no HEAT, or the DARKNESS that comes when there is no LIGHT.**

whoever said this one is a great genius..and i certainly agree!
