hahahaha,....
i'll go Focalz for the car,....
Klipsch for the home theater
for home theater i would definitely go for Maggies... my uncle has 3 pairs, and DAYM! you close your eyes, and you're in the recording studio or concert hall or in the middle of the battlefield... w00t!
The MAGNEPAN 20.1:

anyone got $10k for a pair...?
weed: i still go for focal... they have a $80k. speaker. =)
id still stick with the legendary BW nautilus 800 series
@djereza: well if we're trying to post the most expensive speakers, then i could go for an Acapella Spharon Excalibur that goes for $325k a pair...

or better still, get a Kharma custom-built Enigma for $1M
http://www.kharma.com/
and match it with Silversmith Audio Cables at $1.9k PER FOOT ( http://www.silversmithaudio.com/silversmith.htm ), and blam, you've got the most expensive speaker setup in the world.... heheheh
But for that price, just fly the whole London Philharmonic Orchestra along with the Vienna Boys' Choir to Cebu... hehehehe
but i was basing my comment on what i personally have listened to, and unfortunately, i haven't listened to any of the above, except for the Maggies, which i will say still sounds better than the B&W Nautilus which i have also had chance to listen to in a friend's house in manila... the problem with the B&W's is the fact that the sound still emanates from single points, and not the whole panel, unlike the maggies... the maggies make you feel that you are there, due to the large sound emanation area, as even the back of the maggies emanate sound.... the only drawback to the maggies is the fact that it cannot reproduce "discorral" bass, in which case, if you are really a bass-freak, then you can just add subwoofers...
the best affordable speakers for me is either Klipsch or Focal, kanang uban dira grabi na ka mahal.. pero i wonder how massive the difference really is..
nice pud ang jbl... i think jbl is better than altec lansing... in style and soun quality
weed: i'm not trying to post on the most expensive..you started the price tag sir. =)
i haven't listened maggies though but i'm sure with that size...i'm sure it will bring you inside the movie or whatever you're watching..hehehe
i did listen on focal speakers..my brothers' cars are focal speakers. and my father in law has a 6.1 focal speaker setup on his home theater system.
what i like about focal is..they are more into the quality of sound. Up to the tiniest pin drop or stones shattered (Matrix Lobby scene). The speaker can pick up that sound. =)
I did hear B&W and bose speakers for home theaters. I can still say focal is better. =)
Talking about your Spharon...thats one hellava speaker...i mean "SPEAKER"
kimex: i think jbl and altec lansing are in the same company...i think lang ha.
cos jbl is JB Lansing. =)
