naa na man similar law ani with regards sa election... kng duol na gani ang election, actors/actresses who run for public office are barred from appearing in their shows.

.. yep. agree. there should be a limitation to what office they should run. Mayor being the highest. Most of these celebrity-politicians were made so by their town's folk. Urging them to run. Let them stay and concentrate on their own turf. Being senator or even congressman deals with a bigger scope. We all saw that they're incapable of coping with the pressure ( pressure to corrupt of not ).

Not unconstitutional at all. And not discriminatory. This would be a valid classification. Everyone who has the ability to work, will have the ability to work to be eligible to vote. Democracy is not about equality, it is about equal opportunity.

Just imagine if we say everyone HAS THE RIGHT TO VOTE without qualification. Even little children would be qualified to vote, yet NO ONE QUESTIONS that there should be a minimum age to vote.

Of course, there should be controls on the taxpayer vote, e.g. those who already earned the right to vote will not be disqualified because a poor economy made him lose his job, retirees should retain the right, etc.

THOSE WHO ACTUALLY HELP THE GOVERNMENT, SHOULD HAVE THE BIGGEST SAY IN GOVERNMENT.

That is unconstitutional. Your being a citizen of the republic is not conditioned whether you have the ability to pay taxes. What makes you a citizen? Its defined in the Constitution. Let us not make discriminatory propositions here.

The power to tax is based upon the ability to pay principle. What if an individual belonged to the exempt category because his income is too low to pay the tax? Would you disenfranchise him for that? Imposing the condition on voting based on the taxes paid imposes a property requirement in the exercise of one's right to suffrage which is prohibited under the Constitution.

I don't think such law will be amended and as long as it says in the constitution under Bill of Rights Section 4. No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression. It's the people who will decide whether they are choosen to sit in the office or not that's how democracy works by VOTE.

this is unfair. dapat padaganun gihapon ang mga actors/actresses gihapon. what if they are qualified to run?? not all actors/actresses are non qualified to run. naa man sab ubang artista. let's be fair and this is a democratic country.

If this law should be passed on to Congress no later than the next coming elections, this would definitely have a change in terms of improvement on our political sector. If it would be possible, the government should also tackle on changing the very key component that keeps on pulling us down. For instance, they might focus on developing an Electoral College, much like that of the US government. In this case, not all Philippine citizens are qualified to run for a political seat. Hence, they should be carefully chosen in terms of their political capabilities and credentials for that matter.
