    @ Ferl :

1st. make sure ur Windows Advanced Audio Properties is on 5.1
2nd. also make sure its on 5.1 on ur sound card
3rd. make sure on ur speaker "Control Center" its on "6 Ch Direct" (it'z on the effect option)

It's in the Control Center like cholocoy said. Press input until you reach the 6-channel direct setting.

Your questions are a bit mixed up.
Let me try to understand your problem so I can give you the proper steps.

Which connection are you trying to use?

I think i have to bypass the spdif so that the card wount use its own decoder.
You want to bypass the SPDIF so that the card won't use it's decoder? Did you, by any chance mean, bypass the decoder so the card can use the SPDIF to pass raw digital signal to Logitech's decoder?

If so, then all you really have to do is just set your player to output via SPDIF. This will effectively skip the cards processing of the signal and just send it as it is to your speakers. This feature won't work that well for other players that lack capability to pass SPDIF.

actually mo play gyud siya pero lahi maan gyud iya output.
What were you playing? Was it a digital track or normal mp3? Also, what input setting did you have on the Z5500 when you did this?

FYI: Even on Dolby Digital Live, MP3 (stereo) will not be converted into 5.1 signal. However, if you would like to have some "space" and LFE, you may opt to turn on DSP and LFE on your sound card. Set LFE to around 60 and DSP set to something like Dance or Club (or whatever equiv you've got).

It would be in your benefit to use analog jacks for music so as to make full use of Audigy's music and sound clarity enhancements. It's also, a good idea to switch to the SPDIF output for when playing DVDs for accurate Dolby Digital or DTS decoding.

You'll also notice that when using SPDIF your volume will be softer at the same volume setting on your speakers. This is simply because optical/coaxial signals are not amplified to boost the sound volume like that of --they're just digital signals (1s and 0s).

Hope this helps you. I've gone through what you're going through right now when I got my Z680 before and I know it's tough but you'll figure things out soon enough.

@ Zerone_null : its not just in the INPUT source
u get this on the INPUT source :
    ** OPTICAL
    ** COAX
    ** 6 channel direct (mini-jack) <------choose this INPUT source

go to the EFFECT source :
    ** Hardware decoding for Dolby® Digital, DTS®, and DTS®, 96/24 soundtracks
** Dolby Pro Logic II (Movie and Music modes)
** 6 Channel Direct <---- this is where u gotta have it on,....
    ** Stereo x2
    ** Stereo

yes it was. i also found it on the creative support and other forums. yes nindot gyud iya output labi na kung gamiton nimo ang toshlink. wow grabe ka limpyo sa tingog kung naka toshlink ka unlike sa direct kay wala na kaayo siya noise.

one comment lang sa z-5500 dili siya pwede i power up for hardcore music lover kay mo distort iya ourput unlike sa altec lansing nako na 641 na halos makapakusog ko nga dili manilhig ang ingog.

in general pang moderate lang gyud na volume kay imo na gani pakusgan as in rockers volume na manilhig gyud imo madungog.ahehe. overall ok siya nindot ang tingog how much more on orig movie dvds and audio dvds?i guess must to see and try.

    finefix;

i dont know if available ni siya sa cebu kay dili man nako sa cebu kini gipalit.out of the country nako na purchse busa barato na siya kay wala man TAX.ahehe
