thats 7/4 time signature & i really wanted to know who the drummer is because if you listen intently to the drums, he's got like 3 hands.. deen castronovo was w/ steve vai on alien love secrets & he'e the one playing on that song 'die to live'

& btw, steve vai has played w/ legendary drummers namely: terry bozzio, vinnie colaiuta, virgil donati, mike mangini.. plus pa ni deen castronovo although i dont think he's achieved a legendary status yet


& of course there's the legendary buddy rich.. even though he was quite old on that (one of those last) frank sinatra concert, the guy still had it.. all hail buddy rich

That title belongs to Louie Bellson. He popularized the double bass decades before Lombardo did.

I'd still pick Virgil Donati when it comes to foot technique. He's not the fastest out there but his foot technique and 4 limb independence is mind-boggling. When he did paradiddle on his foot and double paradiddle on his hand (or was it vice versa), that just blew me away.

Anyone can be fast.. But not everyone can be as precise.

Anyhow - double bass drumming is no the "be-all and end-all" of trap kit percussion. Jojo Mayer makes double bass patterns with one foot.

saw that vid.. virgil donati is really so technical.. di malalis.. tho para nako, di na gyud ma-apply in a 'song situation'.. simon philipps also did paradiddle with the double bass..
kaila mo 'travis orbin??'.. i think he is the future of drums.. his set-up is so creative/original.. and he's still young
