Default help on how to install a wireless router

i bought a wireless router just yesterday and i tried installing the hardware but unfortunately, it was a disaster hehe. bought this router so that i won't have to connect my laptop to the wires that come w a DSL connection.

i am having a DSL connection, the one with internet and landline bundle. for those that are familiar with it, it uses the "splitter" to activate both landline and internet. unfortunately, when i tried installing the new hardware, mawala na ang dialtone sa amo phone. is this a common problem?

the hardware installation was also not a success. i could not connect to the internet.

i have a PC and i used it to install the wireless router but i also have a laptop. Which is better to use to start of in installing this wireless router?

i need all the help i could help guys especially those techie istoryans around here

THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS =)

it would be a lot useful if you can tell us:

    1. your ISP
    2. what is your modem (model number)
    3. what wireless router you bought

gubaon cguro ang splitter. 1st check if the phone works. then 2nd try to connect the modem to the primary telephone outlet and check if naay internet. If 1 and 2 works possibly guba ang splitter....

don't touch the splitter lang, use it as it is. from the ISP modem connect your wireless router then configure it. the configuration page should be in/at 192.168.1.1. Then from there configure it with your current connection.

If imo connection naka DHCP then configure it to have one, if naka PPOE then mao sad. etc, etc. After that you should be good to go

    diagram lang kunuhay

Modem -> wireless router -> any end device

If ADSL imong napalit nga wireless router, pde na ka dli moagi ug modem. Daretso ra paslak ang rj 11 ngadto sa imong router, nya i-configure and you are ready to go na.

splitter >> modem >> router (wan port)

ayaw hilabti ang configuration sa isp. from the wall socket to the splitter then to the modem.
since most of the modem that is bundled with your dsl account has only 1 ethernet port, then this port must be connected to the WAN port of your router. then do your DHCP, SSID, and wireless security settings for your router and your done. (As much as possible ayaw panghilabot sa config sa imong modem adto lang sa imong router.)

dali rajud kaau na....dont change the setup lang from your modem and landline phone.....the splitter is still the same...dont change it, diba there is a lan cable from your modem that you have to connect to your PC? that lan cable, connect it to your wireless router specifically on the WAN nga port....see it in your wireless router, it is indicated. then you're done the hardware configuration....simple.

then check the manual for the wireless router configuration sa imong PC...just follow it usually it is setup on its very basic na nga configuration....just click2x nalang ka...heheh and you're done...its up to you if you change your wireless name and your password para dili makaconect ang outsiders....
