But to be scientific, usage of
any muscle requires energy = means you DO use up calories. Any bodily function needs ENERGY = blinking uses tiny muscles in your eyelids, digesting requires complex muscles in the walls of your intestines, etc.
Some would even argue that the human tongue is quite possibly the strongest on the basis that it can "lift" a person. How many calories do you burn trying to lift a person with your arms?

That's the physiological aspect... Then add that you have nerve endings shooting electricity, heart rate goes up, the brain working overtime, the stiffening of some muscles, the hardening of THE muscle, the hands sliding up and down -- tugging, twisting, pinching, and smacking body parts.
