Forza Motorsport 4 Set for Fall 2011
Microsoft and developer Turn 10 confirmed Forza Motorsport 4 will ship for the Xbox 360 in Fall 2011.
The fourth installment of the series will support Kinect as well as traditional racing controls. Microsoft first announced the title at this past E3.
"We showcased a Kinect-enabled project from Turn 10 Studios at E3 2010, which let players explore and experience their dream cars like never before," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN."That tech demo demonstrated some of the experiences possible with Kinect and Forza.
"Forza Motorsport 4 brings together genre-defining, controller-based racing and the power and freedom of Kinect to create an automotive experience unlike anything before it."

Forza 4 will be most realistic racer 'on any console' - MS
Microsoft's aiming its sights at Gran Turismo 5 with the just-announced Forza Motorsport 4, claiming the 360 sequel will be the most realistic racer "on any console".
The Kinect-enabled follow-up - which was announced this weekend for release in autumn 2011 - is already being hailed as "the definitive racing game of 2011" by its publisher.
"Forza Motorsport 4 will be the most expansive and vividly realistic automotive experience across any console, bringing you closer to the edge than you've ever been before," MS gushes in the game's announcement.
Through Kinect, players will be able to "step through the TV screen and jump into the driver's seat", while the controller-based experience will let you take on the "bone-jarring physics, unparalleled levels of customisation, and rosters of dream cars and tracks".
Turn 10 and Microsoft certainly aren't settling for second place then.

How Forza Motorsport 4 Can Dominate Gran Turismo 5
This past Saturday, we sat through the 2010 Spike TV Video Game Awards, and while we endured several groan-worthy celebrities, we also caught a glimpse of some awesome upcoming games for 2011. Among them is Turn 10 Studios’ latest race around the track, Forza Motorsport 4, which follows the immensely popular third release from last year. The game is already looking promising; from the brief glimpses we caught at the trailer. But Turn 10 needs to step up and do more than just create a marvelous looking game, especially with Gran Turismo 5 gathering acclaim over on the PlayStation 3. Here now are some of our personal suggestions for the studio to make the fourth time around the Forza world a charm and give Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport 4 a winning advantage over Gran Turismo 5.
In-depth Career Mode - Forza Motorsport 3 had a terrific set-up with ranked races that took place all over the world, gradually building your driving skills amongst the elite. But it didn’t seem too career-like, where you talked with your racing team that often or feel like you were competing against tried and true competition. With Forza 4, we suggest Turn 10 Studios implement pro drivers, even fictitious ones, to complete against. Can you imagine going head-to-head against the likes of Jimmie Johnson or Travis Pastrana? (They won’t be included, but we’re throwing the idea out there.) Plus, having your choice of captain and team strategy would make the driving experience feel just a little bit deeper.
Better Expansion of Community Features - One thing that we really enjoy about Forza Motorsport 3 is accessing the custom liveries, in which there are literally hundreds of thousands that were made. (Our personal favorite – the Mass Effect 2 car.) Turn 10 needs to bring that back for the sequel, along with the possibility of creating tracks (like you can in Gran Turismo 5). Can you imagine gaining access to features that let you create your dream – or nightmare – track, then sharing them with the world through Xbox Live? We sure can. And it’d expand the community in a number of other ways, with additional parts and world locales to choose from. Sure, it’d take some work, but if any studio can get the job done, it’s Turn 10.
More Racing Circuits - Gran Turismo 5 definitely knows how to diversify, with a number of circuit races and even some NASCAR events thrown in for good measure. With Forza 4, Turn 10 Studios needs to expand its horizons and involve a few more racing leagues, like F1, Monte Carlo and a few other overseas leagues. In addition, we wouldn’t mind doing a little underground street racing (as long as it’s not too Fast and Furious style) or rally racing with some awesome dirt cars. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
Creating a Dream Garage - There are so many cars in Forza Motorsport 3 to choose from, it’s not even funny. What would be great for the sequel is an option to show off your car collection to others, and, while we’re at it, making it a more accessible option to buy and sell cars virtually. We’re talking test drive options, color options and so much more. And, hey, car collectors don’t necessarily need to pick up anything, they can just sit and ogle at your collection. Why let Jay Leno have all the fun? (Besides, we hate that guy. Go Team Coco!)
Arcade Mode - Simulation driving is definitely where it’s at, but what’s wrong with loosening up and going with something a little more fun? As we saw in Blur earlier this year, there’s something awesome about blasting enemies with weapons while trying to score a first-place victory. Why couldn’t Forza 4 have something like that, letting players go at it at top speed while picking up weapons? It might go against the nature of the serious simulation game, but, hey, that’s why it would be called ARCADE.
Options For Both Kinect and Regular Control - Obviously this is a big one. When Microsoft showcased the game at E3 earlier this year, they mentioned all the Kinect functionality that would be behind it. That’s cool and all, but not everyone is going to want to play the game in a similar manner as, say, Kinect Joy Ride. So what Turn 10 needs to do is implement a control scheme that works with both the Kinect and the controller – or separate. That would enhance the gameplay almost perfectly, letting both types of players get into the game in their own way – and perhaps even introduce someone to a new method they haven’t tried before. This is pretty much in the bag already, but we really hope Turn 10 emphasizes on it.
Less Loading Times - Finally, this is a HUGE deal. While Gran Turismo 5 is a great game, it takes quite a while to load, even with the game partially installed onto the PlayStation 3 hard drive. We know that Turn 10 has a lot of work on its hands here, but it really needs to tinker away at the game so it doesn’t take such a long time to load up. After all, there’s nothing worse than wanting to put your foot on the gas pedal, only to be treated to a series of loading screens. We hate that.
