puwede i-list nimo ang complete specs sa imo DAW including cpu memory, graphics, soundcard, etc, kay mag assemble ko? Kana kong puwede lang. >

simple ra man akong setup, gaming rigs are even more powerful than audio rigs.

Athlon XP 3200+ venice OC 2.5ghz
    Asrock K8NF4G-SATA2
    Palit Geforce 6600GT PCi-e
    2 x 512mb DDR400 PQi
    HEC 450watts PSU 20 pin
    30gb barracuda 7200 for OS
    80gb Barracuda for backups
    120gb barracuda for working data
    M-audio Delta 1010LT 10in 10 out, spdif, midi in/out soundcard
    midiman 4in 4out
    steinberg usb to midi 2in/2out

Except for the CPU, mobo, and Graphics card, all other stuff are holdovers from my old socket A rig

Things to take note of if you want to set up today for an audio rig.

    1. The asrock only has 2 PCI slots and no onboard firewire so you will be severely limited to one SC and a firewire PCi if you count for video transfers from you vidcam. If you use two SCards then wala na for firewire.
My suggestion would be for a dfi mobo with onboard firewire and more pci slots.

    2. Video cards are not that critical for audio, but its best to get a 64bit 256mb pci-e for future compatibility.

    3. there are some issues between ATi and the NF4 chipsets, for example I had a problem with that on an MSI nf4 mobo and a ATi x800 when the m-audio was put in, the pc would not boot to bios at all. The problem was solved with a geforce vidcard.
    4. The 3200+ venice although a very good processor is not really that great from a price performance point today.
You can get a dual processor pentium D 805 for a lesser price which will smoke the venice in all multimedia applications. Different story with gaming as not many games really use the dual proc thing, but most audio apps like cubase, logic, vegas etc. are dual processor ready. I got the venice when it was 13T pesos and the pentium D was non-existent and I was looking to replace it later with a dual proc FX and I'm still waiting for it to become cheap!!

5.If you're serious about audio, get 2 sticks of 1gb ram. Although I'm working comfortably on the 2x512mb, when you do start to emulate what the pros in the U.S. do and use 24bit - 48khz sample rates on your multitrack audio, you'll start to feel some pinch.

    6. My hard drives are old, get all sata drives for your rig, there is a significant difference when you're accessing all those 24bit audio files.

    7. On board soundcards will work for most editing purposes. The new generation mobo soundcards are actually already very good especially when you're only dealing with stereo in/out like overdubs etc. But when you start using pro soundcards, you will see a marked difference especially in the +4dbu/-10dbu outs and in. The difference there is in terms of Headroom, noise floor and signal to noise ratio. You'll notice that cheap soundcards will be much noisier than the pro stuff. So far the m-audio is the cheapest quality souncard you can get. You might want to check out Alesis multimix and Phonic Helix also as these two are firewire mixers, meaning its a mixer that can stream multiple channels of audio into the PC.

No that is not an issue with ATI cards but an inssue with how the nForce4 sourth bridge handles the PCI resources, chancing the PCI latency timer can solve that problem.. also always use the last PCI slot as thats the only slot thats not shared among the other system resources.

Its all about cheap possibilities. For example, I might wind up with an extra 3200+ venice that I can use, but not dispose, so if there is a mobo that can accomodate 2 venice 3200+, I would rather get that than a dual core FX.
Like we have posted serveral times already multi socket support is EXCLUSIVE to Xeon class and that also goes for FX class on AMD ( not sure about Opty )
And no a 2x D805 cant even come close to beating a conroe... dual core processors under dual socket motherboards dont give you 4x the performance due to the limited FSB width.. even the current Kentsfield is limited by the 1066FSB. In the end a mere E6600 is almost 2x faster than a 2x D805. Do take note that the D805 is the lowest end of the dual core line and it consumers more power than the D960 when running the same speed.. also it has the lowest FSB!
By using a single E6600 or E6700 it can best the performance to price ratio of a dual FX system.
Just do a little research on what conroe can do.. i pretty sure your not updated to it as you dont seem to know its capabilities compared to the current processors..
