Old woman tries to claim P741-M Grand Lotto prize
MANILA, Philippines - An 82-year-old woman tried but failed to claim the P741-million Grand Lotto jackpot prize at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in Pasay City on Tuesday.
A radio dzMM report said that the PCSO refused to hand over the P741,176,323.20 check to the old woman because she failed to produce the winning ticket with the "lucky pick" combination 11-16-42-47-31-37.
The woman, whose name was withheld by the PCSO, claimed that the winning ticket is with her grandchild, who has not shown up and who may have gone into hiding.
She claimed that she told her grandchild to place a five-set bet for the November 29 Grand Lotto draw.
Her grandchild returned and turned over to her 4 sets of tickets with the bets that she placed. She said the ticket with the winning "lucky pick" combination is with her grandchild.
The PCSO said that even if the grandmother's claim was true, it cannot release the jackpot prize without the winning ticket.
The PCSO earlier said that the lone winner of the biggest jackpot in the history of Philippine lottery placed the bet in an outlet at the Subic Bay Freeport in Olongapo City, Zambales.
It said that the winning 6-number combination was literally "lucky pick" or was randomly picked by the PCSO computer.
