Default recovery disc + hdd partition?

    hello fellow Istoryans.

i have a laptop hp 150 with HDD Capacity of 60 Gb. then i'm planning to replace it with 250 Gb or higher.

    Now my questions are :

    1. can i make a partition on the new replaced hard drive during the reformatting/installation using
    the recovery disc?

    2. COMPATIBILITY ISSUE: without removing my hard disk, how will i know the Device Type/HD
Type (sata I, sata II, whatsoever) im having right now, so that i'll buy the same device type
    also.

i want to do this on my own as a sort of practice and experience.

    any insight please...

to know what type of hdd you have, you might try taking a look in BIOS setup. get the code of hdd displayed and google it. though i'm not sure if it will lead you to an answer. just what i can think of right now that's faster. other way is to use an application that makes an inventory of your system, might want to try SIW or Belarc. other way is to go to hp website and download the manual and specs of your laptop. you might want to download also your laptop's maintenance manual in pdf, a guide to properly dismantle your laptop. lastly break open your laptop and see it with your own eyes. :P
the next thing would be searching for the store that sells your hdd, and hopefully, just pray that it's available.

on your first question, my answer is maybe. not sure kay wla pako ka try. part of me is saying it's possible, the other part is saying otherwise because of the new hdd (replacement) that does not have the allocated partition for recovery. hmmm... recovery is automated, not sure if it checks hdd capacity to make partitions, or does partition by percentage of total size, i think it should be. hihihi...just speculations.

    good luck!

I downloaded the manual and it seems like i didn't see up to how much is the Maximum HD Capacity it can support. time to call HP-Customer Care. for the benefit of all, surely I'll give you an update.
