actually to better understand the conflict happening now, we have to understand whathappened during the Korean War in the 50s. The war didnt actually end coz what was agreed was just an Armstice ( Ceasefire Agreement). So technically, Korea is still at war. The North doesnt acknowledge the territory division drawn up by UN near the Yeonpyang Island. They still claim that the entire Sea surrounding Yongpyang is theirs. That is why they claim that the bombardment done by SK entered their territory even when in fact it was still well inside SK borders if we based it on the UN Armstice agreement. Thats why they retaliated by firing on the island. SK has all the rights to do a military exercise in that area since it is their territory and no one can compleee them not to as they are a sovereign state. North Korea actually made a serious violation first in the armstice agreeement when they test fired a missile, supposedly their version of an ICBM that exploded over the Sea of Japan. That was a clear volation but NK didnt even aplogized for it. Is the war coming in Korea? it has been.. since the 1950s ( no peace treaty were signed) but is a shooting war in the offing?.. well, lets just wait and see...
