Right. I grew up speaking the language not because my parents thought it would be cool to sound like most of the rich kids do but because they knew that in the future, it would be very useful. I think that conyos are better than those who really refuse to even try to speak the language. At least they try, although in a very annoying manner. As for those who think it's not appropriate or for those who think it's OA, I think it's hightime for you guys to think deeper.
True, it's not a necessity but when you're going abroad or when you're dealing with foreigners or even those who couldn't understand any other languages/dialects than English, it's the best medium you've got. We often laugh at Manny Pacquiao and those other people who try so hard to speak it but aren't that fluent but I think most of us never realized that they do it not because they needed to be looked differently but because they needed to be understood and that they are very much eager to learn.
It's just too bad that most people speak the language to sound as if they're a notch higher above all the other people in a certain place just because they can speak English.
