    Default Filipinos: Happy-go-lucky

Filipinos and happiness: why we need to be serious about it

    The symbol of Filipino happiness

Because of our obsession with being perceived as a “happy-go-lucky” people, we unfortunately also come across as a people who do not take things too seriously even in times of crisis; which is why our social ills stay unresolved. In fact, Filipinos in general don’t even realize that our national psyche needs to be rehabilitated. Most Filipinos are of the belief that our corrupt public officials are solely to blame for the sad state of our nation. This is funny because the Filipino people are free to choose their public servants. And yet they prefer to choose someone incompetent — which is why they get the government they deserve.
Great thanks to ilda of AP for her provocative article..

waaaaaaaaaa maka gutom ang lechon tanawon.. filipinos are not happy go lucky, some are some are not, u can also relate that to other countries.. of course u can never generalize all people, some are really just happy and contended on what they have or what they are right now.. wats making the economy bad is not those kind of people, its the people sitting on those fancy chairs in the gov.t who has nothing to do but to just relax wait for the money to come in and spend the money of the people..

changes are brought about to ourselves really..

Are we really obsessed with being perceived as "happy-go-lucky?" That is new to me, I know we are a happy-go-lucky citizen, but obsessed? In what ways can you say we are "obsessed" I like to hear more...

General population would spend their time watching "emoish Teleserye" and cash dole-out noon time shows with skin clad dancers rather than working hard time and exerting effort in productivity.

(OT: I wondered why "Parental Guidance" is already missing in the TV screens at noon time shows?)

^^ agree most pinoy karon spend their spare time cgeg pangita ug lingaw. sa tanan na nagwork karon, only few spend their spare time na mkakita pa ug lain paagi na makakwarta.

I think in some ways, being happy-go-lucky is also good. But too much is unhealthy as well.

i agree.. Typical pinoys kai "kontento" rajud cla basta maka kaon 3 times a day daog na. wasting spare time instead of getting extra sources of income. if ma wagtang ang trabaho yabo na dayon kai wala man lain source sa income. dli mag tan aw sa distant future but kung unsa ray ayo ugma.

    True story.
